Disbond resistant composite stiffener runout
The disclosure herein provides for disbond resistant stringer runouts. Various aspects may be used independently or in combination to mitigate disbonding associated with the stiffener runout under operational loads. Aspects include a stiffener runout having rounded base flange corners. A recessed notch may be incorporated within the base flange to provide a flange termination point that is forward of the web termination point, allowing the web to terminate prior to the base flange. The web may be trimmed from a full height to a reduced height at the web termination point. The base flange may be co-bonded to the underlying composite structure via a scarf joint. Perimeter clamp radius fillers may be used to concentrate a clamping force around the perimeter of the base flange.
Composite structures containing finite length tapes and methods for manufacturing and using the same
Described are composite grid structures that have a plurality of ply layers, each one of the plurality of ply layers comprising a plurality of first elongate tapes oriented in a first direction and a plurality of second elongate tapes oriented in a second direction, the second direction being offset from the first direction by an angle of at least 25 degrees. In the grid structures: each of the first elongate tapes has a first length extending between opposing ends of each of the plurality of first elongate tapes and a first midpoint intermediate the opposing ends, and each of the second elongate tapes has a second length extending between opposing ends of each of the plurality of second elongate tapes and a second midpoint intermediate the opposing ends. Associated composite laminate structures, grid structures, and methods of manufacturing and/or using the same are also disclosed.
A THERMOFORMED PART COMPRISING A DETACHABLE PART AND A PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING SUCH A PART
The invention relates to a workpiece having a shape produced by thermoforming from at least one sheet (3) of plastic material, such as polycarbonate, and at least one applied element (6, 8; 7, 9) that is applied to the at least one sheet and secured there, characterised in that the securing of the at least one applied element to the at least one sheet takes place at least partially by means of crimping.
Multi-Layered Structure and Articles Formed Therefrom Having Improved Splash Resistance by Increased Interlayer Spacing
A splash resistant multi-layered structure is provided. The structure includes a specific arrangement of layers of material and a plurality of three-dimensional spacers that helps prevent penetration through the structure by a fluid that contacts an outer surface of the structure due to a state of forced separation that exists between two adjacent layers of the structure due to the presence of the plurality of three-dimensional spacers positioned between the layers. The plurality of three-dimensional spacers can be positioned on one of the adjacent layers of the structure such that a distance at least as large as the maximum height of the plurality of three-dimensional spacers separates the two layers from each other and can be present on a layer of material in a continuous or discontinuous pattern or can be present on a layer of material in a random fashion. The presence of the three-dimensional spacers can reduce the basis weight or eliminate one or more layers of the structure, which, in turn, can reduce thermal resistance, lower the pressure drop across the layers of the structure, and reduce the overall weight of the structure to enhance breathability and comfort.
Apparel item configured for reduced cling perception
An apparel item configured to reduce the perception of cling is provided herein. The apparel item comprises a first set of outwardly-projecting nodes on a first portion of the apparel item, a second set of outwardly-projecting nodes on a second portion of the apparel item, and a third set of inwardly-projecting nodes on a third portion of the apparel item, where the third set of nodes is positioned between the first set of nodes and the second set of nodes. The first and second sets of outwardly-projecting nodes comprise apertures that provide a communication passage from an outer surface of the apparel item to an inner surface of the apparel item. Besides reducing the surface area of the apparel item that comes into contact with a wearer's skin surface, the nodes also facilitate cooling the wearer and speed up drying times of the apparel item when being worn.
SHAPING METHOD AND SHAPED OBJECT
A shaped object shaped by a shaping method includes a structure that is shaped by stacking plural constituent layers and a ceiling wall to support the structure. The structure includes plural spiral form parts. Each spiral form part has a cross section in an elliptic shape and extends in a stacking direction while turning with respect to a center position of the elliptic shape. The plural spiral form parts are disposed in matrix in a state where the center positions are separated from each other by a predetermined distance. The spiral form parts that are adjacently disposed in a row direction and a column direction are shaped so that the turning directions are opposite. In at least one cross section of the structure, the major axes of the spiral form parts that are adjacent in the row direction and the column direction are orthogonal to each other.
FIBRE COMPOSITE COMPONENT AND METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION THEREOF, AND WING STRUCTURE
A fiber composite component having a first and a second fiber composite element each bent along a transverse axis opf the fiber composite component to have, respectively, in succession, a first and second base flange, a first and second web section, a first and second top flange and a first and second stiffening web. Respectively, the first and second base flanges are parallel to the first and second top flanges, the first and second web sections are angled with respect to each of the first and second base flanges and the first and second top flanges, the first and second stiffening webs are at right angles with respect to the first and second top flanges, and the first stiffening web and the second stiffening web are congruent with respect to one another, and are connected to one another, along a longitudinal axis of the fiber composite component.
NANOTEXTURED MATERIALS
A material with nanopillar structures extending from a substrate. The nanopillars are engageable by organisms to cause an interaction, such as cellular destruction.

Open-channel stiffener
An open-channel stiffener for stiffening a panel has a bonding flange for bonding the stiffener to the panel through a bondline formed between the bonding flange and the panel to form a stiffened panel. The open-channel stiffener has a cross-sectional shape that aligns, or substantially aligns, a shear center of the stiffener with a centroid of the stiffener and aligns the shear center proximate an edge of the bondline, and removes the need for a radius filler noodle. A plurality of perforations may be formed through the bonding flange to permit an adhesive to wick into the perforations and create a mechanical interlock between the bonding flange and the panel.
