A method of inserting a cannula and a sensor into a user using a cannula and sensor insertion mechanism, the method includes holding the cannula in a first pre-insertion position with a trigger arm, releasing the trigger arm such that a cannula insertion spring moves the cannula from the first pre-insertion position to a second post-insertion position, inserting the introducer needle and the cannula into the user, and retracting the introducer needle from within the cannula with a needle retraction spring.

Self-injection device

A drug delivery device, including a body having a reservoir disposed therein for containing a medicament, the reservoir including a flexible wall; a plunger movable within the body for causing the medicament to be expelled from the reservoir, the plunger having a contact surface that is not affixed to said flexible reservoir wall; a spring biasing the plunger toward the reservoir; and means for selectively maintaining the plunger in a pre-activated position with respect to the reservoir and, upon releasing the plunger from the pre-activated position, for guiding the plunger to move under the force of the spring such that the contact surface of the plunger contacts the flexible reservoir wall to pressurize the reservoir for delivery of the medicament to a patient.

CLOCK MECHANISM FLOW REGULATOR

An automatic injection device with flow regulation is disclosed. The automatic injection device has an insertion needle configured to be inserted into a patient and a drug container which contains a pharmaceutical product and includes a plunger. The automatic injection needle also has a fluid path which fluidly connects the drug container to the patient via an insertion device, a potential energy source, and a regulator configured to restrict release of potential energy and restrict linear movement of the plunger and the pharmaceutical product into the fluid path at a proscribed pace. The regulator includes a clock escapement mechanism. The potential energy source may be a spring that surrounds the drug container and may be magnetically coupled to the plunger. The clock escapement mechanism is configured to control the spring at a regulated rate over a time interval using a gearbox and rotational-to-linear translator comprising a rack and a pinion.

A fluid delivery device comprises a fluid reservoir for containing medicament. The fluid reservoir is sealed proximate one end with a sliding seal piston. A delivery path is configured to fluidly couple the fluid reservoir and a patient wearing the fluid delivery device. A basal engine mechanism is configured to directly or indirectly move the sliding seal piston in the fluid reservoir at a controlled basal rate. A bolus mechanism configured to move the basal engine relative to the fluid reservoir and directly or indirectly move the sliding seal piston in the fluid reservoir a discrete bolus amount at a time.

Administration system, delivery device, and notification device for communicating status of a medical device

An administration system for delivery of a pharmaceutical composition to a patient has a delivery device configured to deliver a dose of the pharmaceutical composition to the patient and a notification device in communication with the delivery device. The notification device is configured to communicate information about a status of at least one property of the delivery device. The delivery device can be a wearable automatic injector configured to be worn on the patient's skin. The delivery device of the present disclosure may allow a user or the patient to view a status of a container. For example, the delivery device of the present disclosure may provide a simple and effective visual means of displaying fill confirmation and delivery confirmation.

Fill stations and base stations are provided for personal pump systems. The fill stations may be opened and closed to accept a reservoir and to allow fluid to be introduced into the reservoir for use with personal pump systems. The fill stations may hold the reservoir at a tilt relative to an underlying surface and may discourage overfilling of the reservoir. The filling stations may also include viewing windows having fluid lines marked thereon for indicating volume of fluid within the reservoir.

SPRING-DRIVEN DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE
20170326292 · 2017-11-16 ·

A drug delivery device or patch-like delivery device which employs a spring force and an inclined surface to apply pressure on a fluid reservoir, thereby delivering medicament to a user's body. The slope of the inclined surface may be engineered to control the drug delivery rate. The device may be low profile and wearable, for example in the form of a patch. A visual indicator of the amount of medicament delivered or remaining may be incorporated, for example via a transparent window that shows the progression of an inclined surface as it presses on the reservoir. The device may incorporate mechanisms for automatic extension and retraction of a cannula at the beginning and end of drug delivery. Drug delivery rate may be limited with flow restrictors, and by using a two-reservoir system with a viscous liquid displacing a reservoir containing the medicament.
