PORTABLE INFUSION PUMP WITH NEGATIVE PRESSURE CONTROL
20230093674 · 2023-03-23 ·

A portable system and method for infusing fluid medicaments to a patient through an elastomeric fluid channel includes an airtight pressure shell for holding a collapsible bag of the fluid medicament to be infused. A pressure sensor connected to the pressure shell monitors decreases below ambient pressure inside the shell to determine when the ambient pressure becomes insufficient to continue assisting the withdrawal of fluid from the collapsible bag, to an external pinch/squeeze unit. At this point, an equilibrator operates to reestablish ambient pressure in the pressure shell for continued operation. In operation, the pinch/squeeze unit exerts radial forces on the elastomeric fluid channel. These forces act to sequentially push fluid medicament for infusion to the patient when the elastomeric fluid channel is occluded and stressed, and draw fluid medicament from the collapsible bag as the elastomeric fluid channel is unstressed.

Fluid injector system volume compensation system and method

A system and method for correcting a volume of fluid delivered by a fluid injector during an injection procedure is described. The method included determining and compensating for a volume factor associated with compliance of the fluid injector system and correcting for the volume by one of over-driving the distance that the drive member travels in a fluid reservoir, under-driving the distance that the drive member travels in the fluid reservoir, or lengthening or shortening a fluid delivery time.

ONE TIME USE FLUID METERING DEVICE

A wearable fluid metering device for delivering medication subcutaneously, intramuscularly or intravenously to a patient, includes a polymer actuator pump. The polymer actuator pump is flexible so it will conform to shape and yet can be used to rapidly displace a volume within a confined area. The actuator is much faster than prior art polymer actuator designs and can be actuated in multiple ways including introduction and hydration of the polymer matrix by a solution or the actuator can be actuated via pH change while it is in solution. The pH change can be made via electrical current such as that used in electro chemistry or the pH change can be made via a chemical change introduced to the actuator hydrating solution.

Infusion pump with elongation sensor

An elastomeric pump having at least one sensor for sensing changes in elongation of a bladder of the pump is provided. Also provided is an infusion assembly including an elastomeric pump having a bladder, at least one sensor for sensing changes in elongation of the bladder, and an indicator for providing one or more outputs of the sensor. The sensor may be a flexible sensor positioned in contact with the bladder of the pump, or a dielectric material may be incorporated into the material the bladder is made from such that the dielectric elastomer material of the bladder forms the sensor.

MEDICAMENT DELIVERY DEVICE

The present disclosure relates to a medicament delivery device. The medicament delivery device comprises a housing, a needle and a reservoir. The needle is configured to project from a distal end of the housing. The reservoir is disposed in the housing and has a flexible wall. The medicament delivery device further comprises a dispensing member and a biasing member. The dispensing member is disposed in the housing and the biasing member is configured to bias the dispensing member to move in an arcuate path relative to the housing such that the dispensing member moves across the flexible wall of the reservoir to dispense medicament from the reservoir when the reservoir contains medicament.

Fluid delivery systems and methods

A method of dispensing fluid includes three processes. A first one of these processes includes pumping fluid into a resilient variable-volume dispensing chamber. The dispensing chamber is in series with a normally present finite fluid impedance and an output. The impedance is sufficient so as to cause expansion of the dispensing chamber as it receives pumped fluid even while some fluid flows through the output. Another one of these processes includes repeatedly measuring a parameter related to volume of the dispensing chamber over time. A third one of these processes includes controlling the pumping of fluid based on repeated measurements of the parameter to produce a desired fluid flow through the output. A corresponding system for dispensing fluid implements these processes.

Dual needle delivery system that connects and deploys needles of a medication delivery device

A medication delivery patch that is applied to the skin and activated to deliver a medication or other fluid into or through the skin. The patch may be completely mechanically driven, with no electronic components, for low cost, safety, and reliability. Pressing an activation button may set in motion a sequence of mechanical events that result in a needle exiting the patch into the skin of the user, and flow of fluid from an internal pouch in the patch into the user. When delivery is complete, another sequence of mechanical events may occur to retract the needle from the skin and stop the flow of fluid, and to show a visible indicator that delivery is complete. The patch may contain a fluid channel, such as a microfluidic channel, that controls the rate and time of delivery; this channel can be configured or selected for different medications or use cases.

ELASTOMERIC MEMBRANE FOR A MEDICAL ELASTOMER PUMP, AND MEDICAL ELASTOMER PUMP HAVING SUCH ELASTOMERIC MEMBRANE
20230069353 · 2023-03-02 ·

A medical elastomer pump and an elastomeric membrane for use in infusion therapy. The elastomeric membrane forms a pump volume for receiving and delivering a medical fluid. In a filled state of the pump volume, in which the pump volume is filled at least in part with the medical fluid, the elastomeric membrane is resiliently stretched. The resiliently stretched elastomeric membrane applies a delivery pressure onto the pump volume for delivering the medical fluid. The elastomeric membrane has a plurality of bulge portions which, at least in the filled state, are convex, each forming a bulge. The bulges each form a pump volume portion of the pump volume.
