A backpack apparatus equipped with an extendable inflatable sleep surface is shown. The apparatus is configured to appear similar to that of a conventional backpack, having dual straps for shoulder carry, as well as wheels and an extendable handle. An inflatable sleeping surface is concealed within the apparatus, and is configured to extend out from the apparatus when desired. Horizontal straps ensure that the sleeping surface remains retracted during travel, or the surface is housed within a compartment of the apparatus. A retractable awning is disposed at a top of the apparatus, and is configured to extend in order to provide shade during rest. The awning is equipped with a night light. The apparatus is preferably equipped with an internal battery, which may be used to recharge portable electronics via a USB output.

A backpack, or carrying bag capable of carrying multiple items in a variety of configurations and capable of being carried in a plurality of ways. The backpack may include modular panels that are interchangeable within the main pocket of the backpack. The backpack may have shoulder straps as well as hand straps. The shoulder straps may be restrained or hidden within or behind a panel on the back of the backpack. The hand straps may be positioned on lateral sides of the backpack or the top of the backpack to carry the backpack like a briefcase. An expandable pocket may be positioned on either lateral side of the backpack and may be automatically retractable when not in. The backpack may also be entirely expandable to create more space in the central pocket with a perimeter zipper that creates more volume within the body of the backpack.

A convertible carrying case having a first container and a second container that is convertible between a primary configuration and a secondary configuration. Each container having a primary face (with primary access structure for accessing the interior of the container when the convertible carrying case is in the primary configuration) and a secondary face (with secondary access structure for accessing the interior of the container when the convertible carrying case is in the secondary configuration). A light-weight, easily portable luggage combination is described. The combination comprises a garment bag and a general purpose bag and optionally a utility bag, wherein the garment bag and general purpose bag may be reversibly secured together or used separately if desired. The combination provides for a first interior space in the garment bag so that hanging clothes can be stored in the garment bag and a second interior space in the general purpose bag so that other items (for example, clothing, shoes, accessories, and toiletries) can be stored separately from the hanging clothes.

A configurable towel/bag assembly is provided. The configurable towel/bag is especially suitable for both acting like a towel and for converting into a bag orientation for holding items in a cool environment while still maintaining separate use of the towel if desired. The towel/bag assembly may comprise a first surface and a second surface. A convertible travel bag includes a first compartment, a second compartment rotatably coupled to the first compartment, and a third compartment rotatably coupled to the first compartment. The second compartment and the third compartment are rotatable between a backpack mode and a side-carry mode.
