A microbial growth and dust retardant roofing shingle comprising a substrate and a pore filling composition applied on the surface of the substrate is disclosed. The pore filling composition comprises a silane or acrylic composition. A method of protecting a substrate from microbial growth and soiling using the pore filling composition of the present disclosure is also disclosed.

Method of producing a veneered element

A method of producing a veneered element (10), including providing a substrate (1), applying a sub-layer (2) on a surface of the substrate (1), applying a veneer layer (3) on the sub-layer (2), and applying pressure to the veneer layer (3) and/or the substrate (1), such that at least a portion of the sub-layer (2) permeates through the veneer layer (3). Also, such a veneered element (10).

Composite foam

Composite materials having superior material properties useful as impact absorbing devices can be fabricated by embedding a lattice structure (e.g., polymer lattice structure) within a foam, so that the foam reinforces the lattice structure under impact. Materials and dimensions of the foam and the lattice structure may be selected to achieve composite materials having tailored impact absorbing elastic and/or viscoelastic responses over a wide range of temperatures.

Light weight composites with high flexural strength comprise epoxy foam sandwiched between two layers of facing material have high strength and low weight and can be used to replace steel structures. The facing layer may be fibrous material especially glass or carbon fibres, the facing material is preferably embedded into the epoxy matrix. Alternatively they may be matching box structures or concentric metal tubes. The sandwich structures may be prepared by laying up the fibre; coating and/or impregnating the layer with epoxy resin, laying a layer of heat activatable foamable epoxy material, providing a further layer of the fibrous material optionally coated and/or impregnated with epoxy resin on the foamable material ad heating to foam and cure the epoxy materials. Alternatively they may be formed by extrusion of the foamable material between the surface layers.

Expandable Graphite Flame Retardant Coating for Polyurethane and Latex Foam

A flexible foam composition includes a flexible foam body having a surface, which flexible foam is polyurethane and/or latex flexible foam, and an expandable graphite layer on the surface or within the foam surface adjacent to the surface. The flexible foam composition with the expandable graphite layer imparts improved flame retardant properties to the composition.

Methods of producing foam structures from recycled metallized polyolefin material

A physically crosslinked, closed cell continuous foam structure derived from recycled metallized polyolefin material; polypropylene, polyethylene, or combinations thereof, a crosslinking agent, and a chemical blowing agent is obtained. The foam structure is obtained by extruding a structure comprising a foam composition, irradiating the extruded structure with ionizing radiation, and continuously foaming the irradiated structure.

A covered roof includes a roof deck, an insulation board, and a coverboard. The insulation board includes a polyurethane, a polyisocyanurate, or a mix of polyurethane and polyisocyanurate cellular structure, has a density that is less than 2.5 pounds per cubic foot, and has a first planar surface and a second planar surface, each having a facer positioned adjacent thereto. The coverboard includes a polyurethane, a polyisocyanurate, or a mix of polyurethane and polyisocyanurate cellular structure, has a density greater than about 2.5 pounds per cubic foot and less than 6 pounds per cubic foot, an iso index of at least 175, and a first planar surface and a second planar surface, each having a facer positioned adjacent thereto.

COATING PROVIDING MODULATED RELEASE OF VOLATILE COMPOSITIONS

Described are modulating coatings that are configured to provide an improved release profile of a volatile composition from a base material, wherein the modulating coating includes a barrier substance that is configured to hinder a release of the volatile composition through the modulating coating, and a hygroscopic substance that is configured to facilitate the release of the volatile composition through the modulating coating.
