The valve body defines a first flow path, a second flow path, and a catheter flow path. The valve element is disposed within the valve body, wherein the valve element is configured to permit fluid communication between the first flow path and the second flow path in a priming position, and is configured to permit fluid communication between the first flow path and the catheter flow path in a dispensing position.

The infusion pump system has a first reservoir, a second reservoir, a junction, a mixing chamber, a common line having one end in fluid connection with the mixing chamber and having a terminal fluid delivery end, and an infusion pump. The method includes infusing the first fluid at a first rate along a first flow path; determining a common line flush volume value for the common line; switching to a concurrent infusion mode to drive a combination of the first fluid and the second fluid at the first rate along a second flow path including the common line; monitoring a volume of the combination of the first and second fluids driven at the first rate; and driving the combination of the first and second fluids at a combined rate along the second flow path when the monitored volume is equal to or greater than the common line flush volume value.

The medical device has programming code to: receive the updated drug library; receive a desired infusion rate; calculate expected accumulated infusion volume from the desired infusion rate; request delivery of the infusion at the desired infusion rate; determine actual accumulated infusion volume at a particular time; increase the infusion rate by the catch-up rate factor to generate a catch-up infusion rate when at the particular time the actual accumulated infusion volume is less than expected; and request infusion at the catch-up infusion rate.

An infusion system to provide concurrent TPN/insulin infusion including: a fluid administration set having a primary line in fluid communication with the TPN source, a secondary line in fluid communication with the insulin source, and a common outlet line; a pump operable to removably receive the fluid administration set, the pump being operable to concurrently move the TPN solution through the primary line in response to a TPN solution flow rate signal and the insulin solution through the secondary line in response to an insulin solution flow rate signal; and a flow controller operable to provide the TPN solution flow rate signal and the insulin solution flow rate signal to the pump. The flow controller is further operable to vary the TPN solution flow rate signal and the insulin solution flow rate signal to vary a ratio of TPN solution to insulin solution provided to the common outlet line.

A medical infusion fluid handling system, such as an automated peritoneal dialysis system, may be arranged to de-cap and connect one or more lines (such as solution lines) with one or more spikes or other connection ports on a fluid handling cassette. This feature may reduce a likelihood of contamination since no human interaction is required to de-cap and connect the one or more lines and the one or more spikes. For example, the automated peritoneal dialysis system may include a carriage arranged to receive the one or more lines each having a connector end and a cap. The carriage may move along a first direction so as to move the connector ends of the one or more lines along the first direction, and a cap stripper may be arranged to engage with the caps on the one or more lines on the carriage. The cap stripper may move in a second direction transverse to the first direction, as well as to move with the carriage along the first direction.
