A gas-barrier multilayer film, wherein (A) a first inorganic thin film layer, (C) a gas-barrier resin composition layer, and (D) a second inorganic thin film layer are stacked in this order with or without intervention of other layers on at least one surface of a plastic film, the gas-barrier resin composition layer (C) is formed from a gas-barrier resin composition comprising (a) a gas-barrier resin including an ethylene-vinyl alcohol-based copolymer, (b) an inorganic layered compound, and (c) at least one additive selected from coupling agents and crosslinking agents, and the content of the inorganic layered compound (b) in the gas-barrier resin composition is from 0.1% by mass to 20% by mass based on 100% by mass in total of the gas-barrier resin (a), the inorganic layered compound (b), and the additive (c).

Articles, coating compositions, and methods
There is provided a coating composition comprising nonspherical nanoparticles; spherical nanoparticles; optionally hydrophilic groups and optional an surfactant; and a liquid medium comprising water and no greater than 30 wt % organic solvent, if present, based on the total weight of liquid medium, where at least a portion of the nonspherical nanoparticles or at least a portion of the spherical nanoparticles comprises functional groups attached to their surface through chemical bonds, wherein the functional groups comprise at least one group selected from the group consisting of epoxy group, amine group, hydroxyl, olefin, alkyne, (meth) acrylato, mercapto group, or combinations thereof. There is also provided a method for modifying a substrate surface using the coating composition and articles made therefrom.
Composite film having barrier properties for use as in-mold labels, article with in-mold labels, and methods of making same
Barrier films, in-mold label formed from barrier films, and containers incorporating in-mold labels with barrier properties. Films according to embodiments of the invention include multi-layer or composite films that include one or more layers of a barrier material. The films can be used to form labels in standard in-mold labeling processes such that standard robotics, molds, and materials can be used. Preferably, the film can seal on itself such that an overlap seam can be made. The film has adequate desired barrier properties, i.e. water vapor, oxygen, light, aroma, and/or flavor retention barriers depending on the application, such as packaging of consumable products.
High refractive index nanocomposite
