Coating Composition
A barrier coating composition may include an alcohol-based binder; and an inorganic particulate, wherein mineral oil transmission through the barrier coating is such that the reduction in measured IR intensity at 2920 cm.sup.1 is less than 1.0%, as determined by ATR-FTIR spectroscopy.
Coated substrate and system and method for making the same
A coated paperboard (100) comprising: a base substrate (102) having a brightness of about 65 or less measured using TAPPI T452 and a coating (104) on at least one side of the base substrate, wherein the base substrate comprises: one or more opaque layers (114) including a white filler, wherein the opaque layer covers the base substrate so that visibility of the base substrate through the opaque layer is substantially eliminated; a barrier layer (116) covering the opaque layer; wherein the barrier layer substantially prevents aqueous fluids from contacting the opaque layer, and wherein the coated paperboard has a brightness on the side of the base substrate with the coating of about 65 or more measured using TAPPI T452, and a wet brightness drop, on the side of the base substrate with the coating, of about 30 or less, measured using the wet brightness drop test.
Use of aqueous polyanion-polyethyleneimine solutions for producing polymer films with oxygen-barrier properties
The use of an aqueous Solution comprising at least one polyanion and at least one high molecular weight polyethyleneimine is described, for providing oxygen barrier properties to a polymer film. The polyanion is a polymer comprising acid groups neutralized with a base selected from the group consisting of inorganic bases and monovalent organic bases and having a weight average molecular weight of at least 10000 g/mol.
PRINTABLE COATING
A primer-less coating composition for facestock comprises: a binder being a water-dispersible polymer; an ethylenically unsaturated compound which is aqueous-dispersible and miscible with or bonded to said water-dispersible polymer, wherein said ethylenically unsaturated compound is able to form a covalent bond with an ink; and a crosslinker, wherein said crosslinker is suitable for binding the coating to the facestock. The coating composition may be applied to a substrate to form a printable film. A printed film in accordance with the invention may be used in a label, for example for use on a container such as a bottle.
Plastic coated composite building boards and method of making same
Disclosed are composite building boards and associated manufacturing methods. The composite boards may include, for example, one or more slurry layers with embedded fibrous mats. An exterior plastic coating is mechanically adhered to the underlying slurry layer. The plastic layer chemically bonds and cross-links with polymer additives within the slurry layer. The result is an integrated polymer matrix with greatly improved durability and surface strength.
Non-Transparent Art Paper Which Prevents Seepage
A non-transparent paper is described for non-transparent art or graphic design sketches, which prevents seepage of the inks, it accepts any type of gel, water-based, solvent-based, oil-based or mixed inks and solid materials for sketching and drawing, as well as fixatives for the solid materials. This paper consists of a lamination of at least two sheets of uncoated bond paper, inserting at least one intermediate layer of pigmented opacifying emulsion between both sheets, applied between the layers of paper to prevent transparency and the seepage of inks from one face of the lamination to the other. This layer of emulsion contains at least one opacifying pigment, at least one adhesive, agents to control viscosity and surface tension and other components. The outside layers of paper have a drying capacity which fixes the materials used for the sketching and prevent outlines made on one face passing to the adjacent sheets of paper, and also has a texture suitable for receiving any dry material for drawing or sketching.
Seaweed-based food packaging coating
A food packaging material comprises a paper, paperboard or cardboard substrate and a barrier coating on the substrate, wherein the barrier coating comprises the combination of starch, seaweed extract and paper fibers.
Solvent resistant printable substrates and their methods of manufacture and use
A printable substrate, along with methods of its formation, is generally provided. The printable coating can include a base sheet defining a first surface and a second surface and a printable coating on the first surface of the base sheet. The base sheet can be constructed from a cellulosic nonwoven web and a saturant. The printable coating can include a plurality of inorganic microparticles and a crosslinked material, where the crosslinked material is formed from a crosslinkable polymeric binder and a crosslinking agent. An image can be formed on the printable substrate, such as by printing an ink composition onto the printable substrate (e.g., onto the printable coating).
NEW BINDER COMPOSITION
The invention relates to a new binder composition which is particularly suitable for the manufacture of composite materials utilizing such new binder composition in the required nonwoven materials. Composite materials using such new binder composition in their nonwoven part are suitable, in particular, for composites materials for interior construction, for linings, floor coverings, and for the manufacture of furniture and similar products.
DISPERSIBLE NONWOVEN WIPE MATERIAL
A dispersible, nonwoven multistrata wipe material is provided that is stable in a wetting liquid and flushable in use. More particularly, multilayered structures including, but not limited to, two, three, or four layers are provided to form the dispersible nonwoven wipe material. The layers contain combinations of cellulosic and noncellulosic fibers, and optionally a binder or additive.
