Ventilation insert
A ventilation insert for textiles, with at least one layer, covered at least partially by an absorption material and having ventilation openings, the openings being at least partially closeable via a liquid by swelling of the absorption material, obtainable by: a) treating a layer having ventilation openings with a mixture, containing a wetting agent, initiator, polymerizable monomer or oligomers, and a cross-linking agent, as a preliminary stage for the absorption material; and b) polymerizing the monomer or oligomer to form the absorption material while forming a bonded connection between the absorption material and the layer. The ventilation insert has a relatively low thickness, a low weight per unit area, and high flexibility permanently and independently of moisture after economical production, via one layer, self-sealingly closing ventilation openings, and containing the absorption material. The absorption material is connected to the layer by bonding, at least in some regions.
Fiber webs coated with fiber-containing resins
Fiber webs that may be coated and used in filter media are provided. In some embodiments, the fiber web is a non-woven web that is coated with a resin comprising fibers. For example, the resin may include fibers that have sizes (e.g., diameters) in the nano or micron range. In some cases, the fibers distributed within the resin are fibrillated fibers. The respective characteristics and amounts of the fibers in the resin may be selected to impart desirable properties including enhanced mechanical properties and filtration properties (e.g., relatively high strength and air permeability), amongst other benefits.
Method of seaming carpet
A method for joining two carpet segments, each carpet segment having an underside and at least one edge, comprises abutting one edge of one carpet segment with one edge of the other carpet segment, positioning a length of seam tape under the abutting edges, and activating the adhesive to secure the seam tape to the undersides of both carpet segments. The seam tape comprises an elongated base layer being resilient in a transverse direction, an intervening layer applied to the base layer, and an adhesive applied to the intervening layer.
COATED FABRICS INCLUDING EXPANDABLE GRAPHITE
A method for preparing a roofing membrane in the form of a roll, comprising the steps of: providing a polymeric membrane; providing a fabric having a coating disposed thereon; attaching the polymeric membrane to the fabric to form a composite; and rolling the composite. Wherein the coating includes expandable graphite dispersed within a binder.
Moisture-management in hydrophilic fibers
Provided is a fabric having improved moisture-management performance and being resilient to repeated washing, as well as a process for manufacturing the fabric. The process, employing consecutive steps of hydrophilization and hydrophobization, includes defatting cotton or cellulose fibers and their coating with silicone nanoparticles.
Flame retardant textile
The disclosure relates to curable polysilyl phosphate compounds and compositions as well as related methods and flame-retardant textiles incorporating the same. Curable polysilyl phosphate compounds according to the disclosure include a hydrocarbon moiety comprising at least one phosphate group and more than two hydrolysable silyl groups linked to the hydrocarbon moiety. In some embodiments, the hydrocarbon moiety is derived from spirocyclic pentaerythritol diphosphoryl chloride. The curable polysilyl phosphate compound can applied to a textile substrate and then cured to provide a flame-retardant textile with the cured polysilyl phosphate compound as a coating bonded to the textile substrate.
The seam tape comprises an elongated base layer being resilient in a longitudinal direction, an intervening layer applied to the base layer, and an adhesive applied to the intervening layer.
COATED FABRICS INCLUDING EXPANDABLE GRAPHITE
A coated fabric comprising a fabric substrate and a coating on said substrate, the coating comprising a binder and expandable graphite dispersed throughout the binder.
PHOSPHORUS-CONTAINING POLYMER, ARTICLE, AND PROCESSES FOR PRODUCING THE SAME
A phosphorus-containing polymer comprises a plurality of phosphorus atoms, wherein about 75% or more of the phosphorus atoms in the phosphorus-containing polymer are present in phosphine oxide moieties. An article comprises a textile material having at least one surface and a phosphorus-containing polymer disposed on a least a portion of the surface, wherein the phosphorus-containing polymer comprises a plurality of phosphorus atoms, and wherein about 75% or more of the phosphorus atoms in the phosphorus-containing polymer are present in phosphine oxide moieties.
