Items formed using stitching equipment with adjustable-shape fixtures

An item may be formed from structures that include holes. Stitching may be used to form a seam that joins the structures. The stitching may be formed from a chain stitch that passes through the holes. The holes may be formed from loops of knit fabric or other holes. Leather layers, polymer layers, fabric layers, and other structures with holes may be joined using the stitching. During fabrication, a layer of material with holes may be placed on an adjustable-shape fixture having a bed of needles. The shape of the bed of nails in the adjustable-shape fixture may then be changed. After the fixture has been used to transform the shape of one or more of the structures, the structures may be placed on needles in an assembly fixture and the stitching between the structures may be formed. The item may be an electronic device cover or other item.

In a further embodiment, a case is provided with first and second polymeric shells each having an interior and an exterior surface thereon and connected together by at least one hinge portion. The first and second shell portions form a cavity of sufficient size to cover a mobile electronic device sufficiently to prevent access by its user. Tamper resistant and ultrasonic sensor defeating mobile device case embodiments are also contemplated by this invention.

A key-fob-accommodating version is small enough to be attachable to the key fob when in a compacted condition so that it can always be attached to the key fob. The key fob version includes a pair of stretchable wrapping loops that allows the user to roll the pouch into a compact roll and then secure it in the rolled condition using one of the wrapping loops. In some larger pouch versions, there may be closure buttons around which a wrapping loop could be wrapped to secure the closure of the pouch. Other versions may include the ability to close and lock the pouch to secure the encapsulated device. All versions include a Faraday cage integrated into the pouch assembly.
