A smartphone or smartphone case with features capable of being used while running, walking, and other outdoor activities is provided. The features may include a light positioned on a sidewall of the smartphone case or the smartphone itself. Such a side light allows the user to hold the phone in a natural position with a front or rear of the smartphone facing a user's palm, while the light on the sidewall faces forward, allowing the user to comfortably hold the smartphone and keep the wrist at a natural and comfortable position while lighting the path before them.

A first electronic device includes a housing including an inner space for receiving an external electronic device therein, a battery disposed in the housing, a detection module disposed in the housing, and configured to detect one of receiving or removal of the external electronic device from the inner space, at least one cooling module disposed in the housing, at least one processor operatively coupled with the detection module and the at least one cooling module, and a memory operatively coupled with the at least one processor, wherein the memory stores instructions which are executable by the at least one processor to detect, through the detection module, that the external electronic device is received in the housing, receive at least one of an operational state information or temperature information for the external electronic device in response to the detecting of the received external electronic device, and control the at least one cooling module, based on at least one of the operational state information or the temperature information.

This present invention pertains to a method and apparatus to improve thermal transfer properties of a protective case for a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet computer. The protective mobile device case is optimized for temperature regulation and heat transfer by integrating thermal interface materials into key regions of the protective case where heat transfer to or from heat sensitive components within a mobile device are located.
HANDHELD DEVICE CASE WITH ACTIVATABLE SHIELD TO BLOCK WIRELESS SIGNALS
A technique for selectively configuring a case of a handheld device to shield an antenna from receiving or transmitting wireless signals is disclosed. The technique includes moving a blocking element on the case between a first position and a second position. The blocking element is a physical structure that is rotatable, slidable, or removable to switch between the first position and the second position. In response to moving the blocking element to the first position, the blocking element blocks wireless signals received or transmitted by the antenna of the handheld device. In response to moving the blocking element to the second position, wireless signals can be received or transmitted through the case by the antenna.
