A syringe includes a barrel having an internal surface defining an internal bore therein; a plunger having a distal end disposed within the internal bore of the barrel, and a proximal end disposed outside the internal bore of the barrel; and a dose divider configured to bear on the barrel in response to translation of the plunger relative to the barrel along the longitudinal direction. The dose divider includes a base including a flange that extends at least partly in a radial direction; and at least one column extending away from the base along the longitudinal direction. The at least one column includes a proximal end and a distal end opposite the proximal end, the proximal end of the at least one column being coupled to the base. The at least one column includes a sacrificial portion coupled to a frangible link.

In further aspects the disclosure relates to a cartridge equipped with such a sensor as well as to a drug delivery device equipped with such a cartridge, wherein the sensor comprises: a planar flexible foil arrangeable to an outer circumference of a barrel of the cartridge or syringe, at least a first and a second measuring electrode arranged on said foil, and at least a first and a second contact electrode arranged on said foil, wherein the first contact electrode is connected to the first measuring electrode and wherein the second contact electrode is connected to the second measuring electrode.

Apparatus and methods for medicament delivery. The apparatus may include, and the methods may involve, a delivery device for delivering a target amount of the medicament from a distal end of the device. The device may include a rod for moving a plunger that discharges the medicament from the distal end. The device may avoid or reduce deformation of the plunger during the discharge. The plunger motion may be stopped by detent that interacts with the rod. The apparatus and the methods may provide an operator indication of progress of stages of operation. The device may feature triggers corresponding to stages of medicament displacement from the device, such as pre-delivery stages, including priming.

Drug delivery device with retaining member

A drug delivery device is provided for delivering a drug to a target tissue site. The drug delivery device comprises a body comprising a proximal end and a distal end and a chamber disposed therebetween. An upper portion is disposed about the proximal end of the body. A retaining member is disposed within a wall of the body and engageable with the chamber and a plunger is configured for disposal within the upper portion and the chamber. The upper portion is movable about the proximal end of the body to open the chamber such that the plunger is disposed within a passageway defined within the chamber, and movement of the plunger in a distal direction pushes the retaining member such that the drug moves out of the body. Methods are also disclosed.

LOW DOSE PREFILLED DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE AND METHOD

A drug delivery device (100) for administering a low dose of a medicament includes a housing (111) and a drug reservoir (101) disposed in the housing (111). A needle (135) is connected to the drug reservoir (101). A pressure applying member (113) is movably connected to the housing (111) and is movable between first and second positions. The pressure applying member (113) does not apply pressure to the drug reservoir (101) in the first position and applies pressure to the drug reservoir (101) in the second position to dispense medicament stored in the drug reservoir (101). A method of administering a low dose of insulin to simulate a first-phase insulin response of a pancreas is also disclosed.

An auto-injector apparatus includes a flexible container containing a liquid medicant, a needle communicated with a container, a housing with a container being received in the housing, pump disposed in the housing and positioned to engage the flexible container and expel the medicant from the container through the needle upon relative movement between the pump and the container, and a main drive spring operably associated with the needle to extend the needle from a first needle position wherein the needle completely received in the housing to a second needle position wherein the needle protrudes from the using. The pump may be a roller.

Syringe for mixing two components and for retaining a vacuum in a storage condition

A syringe for mixing two substances which have been retained separately inside the syringe is described, for instance in a storage condition. The syringe is used for 1) retaining a dry composition in a vacuum, and 2) mixing the dry composition with an aqueous medium to form a flowable substance. One embodiment, a syringe for retaining and mixing first and second substances comprises a barrel comprising a sealable and/or closable distal outlet and a vacuum chamber for holding a first substance, a plunger incorporating a reservoir chamber for holding a second substance and configured to be axially displaced through a proximal end of the barrel, a membrane separating the vacuum chamber and the reservoir chamber, and a pointed member, such as one or more needles, for penetrating the membrane, wherein the syringe is configured such that the membrane and the pointed member are axially slidable in relation to each other.

The equalizing channel is adapted for equalizing the fluid pressure in a fluid communication volume (301) to the fluid pressure in the external environment, upon changing the configuration from the connected to the intermediate configuration and thereby expanding an internal volume, whereby an equalizing fluid flow along the equalizing flow path is larger than an unintended flow along the unintended flow path, whereby equalization of the fluid communication volume is provided with a reduced risk of introducing microorganisms from the flow channel (362) into the reservoir (311).
