DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE WITH MEANS FOR DETERMINING EXPELLED DOSE

The present invention provides a drug delivery device (1) of the type in which a piston rod (10, 110) extends along a reference axis and is forced to rotate in an expelling direction about the reference axis during a dose expelling event to cause an expelling of drug from a drug reservoir (30, 130), and a resilient ratchet element (12) is operatively coupled with the piston rod (10, 110) and undergoes a deflecting motion comprising elastic deformation and recovery in response to an expelling of a predetermined dose increment, which deflecting motion occasions a velocity fluctuation of the piston rod (10, 110), comprising: a rotator module (50, 150) operatively coupled with the piston rod (10, 110) and configured to rotate about the reference axis against a rotation resisting force in response to a rotation of the piston rod (10, 110) in the expelling direction, the rotator module (50, 150) comprising a sensor system (70, 71; 170, 183; 270, 183) for monitoring a torque transferred by the piston rod (10, 110) during the dose expelling event, wherein the sensor system (70, 71; 170, 183; 270, 183) is configured to, from the monitored torque, identify occurrences of velocity fluctuation of the piston rod (10, 110) attributable to the deflecting motion of the resilient ratchet element 15 (12).

INJECTION DEVICE WITH USER FRIENDLY DOSE SELECTOR

An injection device incorporating a dose setting mechanism that contains a dose selector having a fail safe feature that activates during an interrupted dose delivery event where a projecting rib engages a protrusion on a snap element to prevent the dose knob from moving distally when a user removes an axial force in the proximal direction during dose delivery, intermediate stops to assist the user in dialing a dose and an injection feedback mechanism.

METHOD OF INJECTING OCTREOTIDE ACETATE INTO THE BODY

A method of providing and/or injecting octreotide acetate to a subject in need thereof includes storing the octreotide acetate in a cartridge of a multi-use multi-dose injector provided with a variable dose setter and actuator. The injector includes a needle configured for subcutaneous administration of the octreotide acetate, the octreotide acetate having a concentration of 2,500 μg/mL. The method further includes providing, on the injector, a plurality of indicia only at prescribed doses of 50 μg, 100 μg, 150 μg and 200 μg settable via the dose setter without indicia between said prescribed doses; and permitting setting of a dose of the octreotide acetate by rotation of the variable dose setter, wherein the injector is configured to provide at least one audible feedback during the rotation.

Assembly for a drug delivery device and drug delivery device

An assembly for a drug delivery device comprises a housing, a dose member which is displaceable in a proximal direction with respect to the housing for setting of a dose of a drug, a clutch member which is displaced in the proximal direction with respect to the housing when setting the dose, and a stop member configured to define a clutch stop position. The clutch member and the dose member are configured to mechanically cooperate with one another when the clutch member is in the clutch stop position, thereby preventing further displacement of the dose member in the proximal direction with respect to the housing during setting of the dose.

CONTAINER ADAPTER FOR REMOVABLY ATTACHABLE SYRINGE

Apparatus for removably attaching a syringe to a container for extracting fluid therefrom into the syringe, which is particularly beneficial for fluid having a relatively high viscosity. The disclosed container adapter holds a syringe adapter securely therein (the syringe adapter configured for providing a fluid path between a container and a syringe) while also securing the syringe adapter to the container, and provides an attachment point for securely attaching the syringe to the syringe adapter and thus to the container (at least) while the fluid is withdrawn from the container into the syringe. The syringe is removably attached to an end of the syringe adapter during the withdrawal, and a cap is provided that closes entry and exit to this attachment point when the syringe is not in place. The cap preferably attaches to the syringe adapter using a connection that mimics the connection used by the syringe.
