Dual chamber syringe with retractable needle
Embodiments of a retractable syringe assembly are provided that include a dual syringe barrel configuration. One or more embodiments include reuse prevention features and features that prevent premature activation of the retraction mechanism. Methods for aspirating and expelling liquid from medical devices are also provided.
SYRINGE
The invention provides a syringe for use in an ophthalmic injection. The syringe comprises a body, a stopper and a plunger. The body comprises an outlet at an outlet end and the stopper is arranged within the body such that a front surface of the stopper and the body define a variable volume chamber from which a fluid can be expelled though the outlet. The plunger comprises a plunger contact surface at a first end and a rod extends between the plunger contact surface and a rear portion. The plunger contact surface is arranged to contact the stopper but not couple thereto, such that the plunger can be used to force the stopper towards the outlet end of the body, reducing the volume of the variable volume chamber, but not to move the stopper away from the outlet end.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SAFETY SYRINGE
A system for injecting includes a syringe body having proximal and distal ends, a syringe interior, and a syringe flange at the proximal end thereof. The system also includes a stopper member disposed in the syringe interior. The system further includes a plunger member coupled to the stopper member. The plunger member includes a rotatable member configured to insert the stopper member distally in the syringe interior relative to the syringe body with rotation of the rotatable member. The plunger member further includes a proximal portion proximal of the rotatable member configured to be moved distally to also insert the stopper member distally in the syringe interior relative to the syringe body to eject about microliters of fluid from the syringe interior.
INCISION SYRINGE WITH DISPOSABLE CARTRIDGE
An incising and medicating syringe is described which is configured to form raised skin areas of effected skin and lance the skin to extract subdermal fluid and distribute medical ointment. The device is employed by placement of an aperture over the effective area whereafter translation of a plunger extends a lance which subsequently withdraws to absorb and contain the excreted fluid.
Auto-Injector with Pivoting Trigger
A resettable and reusable auto-injector with a trigger having a pivot axis dividing an elongate body into distal and proximal portions. The proximal portion has a finger surface on an upper section and a bearing surface projecting downwardly configured to engage a button blocker to function as a safety feature to prevent premature firing of the auto-injector before a needle hider is pressed against an injection site.
NEEDLE REMOVAL OPERATION COVER
Provided is a needle removal operation cover with which a user can safely perform an injection needle removal operation even when a needle tip is directly inserted into the needle removal operation cover, and with which the user can remove the injection needle without requiring a wrist twisting motion. In a needle removal operation cover which is configured such that an injection needle which is detachably and threadedly mounted on a distal end of an injection cylinder is threadedly removed by rotating the injection needle, the needle removal operation cover is formed in a cylindrical shape such that a needle tube of the injection needle including a needle tip is accommodated in the needle removal operation cover and integral mounting of a needle hub in the needle removal operation cover is allowed, a flange body for a rotating operation is formed on a cylindrical outer peripheral surface in a projecting manner, an outer periphery of the flange body is formed of a plurality of continuous mountain-like ridge portions, and among the mountain-like ridge portions, the mountain-like ridge portions which correspond to a rotational direction along which the injection needle is released from the injection cylinder are formed into a shape which allows easy engagement of a finger for an operation with the ridge portions.
Adapter for a syringe
An adapter for a syringe includes a base portion having an insertion hole and a flange portion extending laterally outwardly from the base portion. A longitudinal axis of the flange portion extends from a first distal end to an opposing second distal end. A first distance measured from a geometric center of the insertion hole to the first distal end of the flange portion is less than a second distance measured from the geometric center of the insertion hole to the second distal end. The first distance defines a first section of the flange portion and the second distance defines a second section of the flange portion. The first section has a cross-sectional shape that is one of at least slightly concave and at least slightly convex and the second section has a cross-sectional shape that is the other of at least slightly convex and at least slightly concave.
HUBER SAFETY NEEDLE
Disclosed is a Huber needle assembly that may include an upper body connected to a lower body, the assembly being structured to retain a needle for insertion/extraction of the needle into/from an insertion site. The upper body can statically retain the needle while the lower body may slidably receive the needle. The lower body can further include a catch that engages a tip of the needle and/or misaligns the tip of the needle with a needle aperture of the lower body to place the assembly in a safety-lock position, preventing rebound, needle-stick injury, and/or any type of exposure of the needle tip to an environment outside of the lower body. The assembly can further bias the needle in a direction so as to prevent re-emergence of the needle tip after being withdrawn into the lower body.
Syringe with temperature modulation capabilities
Disclosed herein are syringes having temperature modulation capabilities particularly with regard to changing the temperature of the material being ejected from or injected into the syringe and methods of use. In a specific embodiment of this invention, the syringe comprises a phase transition composition which is to be maintained in one phase within the syringe chamber and ejected in a different phase from the syringe.
