FILL-FINISH ASSEMBLIES AND RELATED METHODS

Fill-finish assemblies facilitating the manufacture of a drug delivery device are disclosed. The fill-finish assembly may include a container, an insertion mechanism, a fluid pathway connection assembly disposed between the container and the insertion mechanism, and a carrier. The insertion mechanism may include a delivery member and an insertion mechanism housing. The insertion mechanism may be configured to move the delivery member from a retracted position inside the insertion mechanism housing to a deployed position outside the insertion mechanism housing. The fluid pathway connection assembly may be selectively activatable to establish fluid communication between the container and the delivery member. The carrier may have a hollow interior containing at least a portion of each of the container, the insertion mechanism, and the fluid pathway connection assembly. The carrier may be configured to hold the container, the insertion mechanism, and the fluid pathway connection assembly in alignment with each other.

Syringe packaging system

A syringe packaging system that includes a tube and a cap for enclosing a pre-filled syringe, wherein the tube includes a cut flange and the cap includes a cut skirt. When the pre-filled syringe is enclosed within the tube and cap, the tube and cap are maintained together by a plurality of crush ribs on the cap or by a film secured to a portion of the tube and a portion of the cap. An injection molding gate is located on the sidewall of the tube to prevent diversion or tampering with the pre-filled syringe.

LOW COST SYRINGE WITH DURABLE AND DISPOSABLE COMPONENTS

Low cost insulin injection syringes (20) are disclosed in which the low cost is achieved by separating the syringe into two types of components, namely, durable components that do not contact the fluid path and can be reused, and disposable or single-use components that contact the fluid path and are not reused. The ability to reuse the durable components reduces the effective per-unit cost of the syringe when multiple syringes are used. Since these components do not contact the fluid path, sterility is not affected. The disposal burden is also reduced because not all of the syringe components need to be disposed of each time a syringe is used. Two different syringe componentsa reusable outer sleeve (24) containing scale markings (44) for the syringe, and a reusable syringe plunger (32)are provided as durable components in embodiments of the present invention. Syringes (20) manufactured according to the present invention can employ one or both of these durable components. Methods for making, using and packaging such syringes are also disclosed.

A supplemental device for attachment to an injection device. A supplemental device for attachment to an injection device, the supplemental device comprising: a housing; an electromechanical switch arrangement, the electromechanical switch arrangement comprising: a main body; and a switching member, the switching member having a protrusion arranged to protrude from the main body so as to contact a surface of the injection device while the supplemental device is attached to the injection device; and a biasing member configured to bias at least a part of the main body of the electromechanical switch arrangement against the injection device while the supplemental device is attached to the injection device.

EXCHANGEABLE CARTRIDGE FOR AN INJECTION DEVICE

An exchangeable cartridge for an injection device is disclosed. The cartridge (3) comprises a container (4) and a plunger (10) connectable with a plunger rod (9). The container receives the plunger rod from its rear end. The plunger comprises a rod connector (12) connectable with a front portion (13), and the rod connector has a base portion (24), an outer wall section (15), an inner wall section (16), and a rod stop portion (17) encircled by the inner wall section. The inner wall section comprises several tongues (22) protruding rearwards from the base portion and defining an entrance opening (18) for the plunger rod. The inner wall section receives a front portion (13) of the plunger rod through the entrance, and the tongues are provided with retaining portions arranged to retain the front end portion during retraction of the plunger rod within the housing.

Autoinjector system

An autoinjector system for injecting a fluid medicament into a patient includes a re-usable autoinjector, and a disposable cassette loaded with a hypodermic syringe pre-filled with a fluid medicament. The autoinjector includes a first motor for injecting a needle of the hypodermic syringe into the patient and a second motor for expelling the fluid medicament from the syringe.

Syringe packaging system

A syringe packaging system that includes a tube and a cap for enclosing a pre-filled syringe is disclosed. The tube includes a tube cut flange and the cap includes a cut skirt. With a syringe barrel contained within the tube, a syringe barrel cut flange is aligned with the tube cut flange. With the pre-filled syringe enclosed within the tube and the cap, the cut skirt of the cap surrounds the syringe barrel cut flange. In one embodiment, a film is securable to a portion of the tube and a portion of the cap to connect the tube and the cap with the pre-filled syringe enclosed within the cap and the tube.
