09833574 · 2017-12-05 · ·

The present invention relates to a spring-loaded medical injection device for automatically ejecting set doses of a drug having an injection button (10). The injection device comprises a housing having a dose setting member (20) for straining an injection spring when setting the size of the dose to be injected and a release element (30) for releasing the strained injection spring to eject the set dose. The injection button (10) is movable in a distal direction against the bias of a return spring (1) and movable in a proximal direction by the force of the return spring (1). Further, the injection button (10) moves with it the release element from a first position to a second position. The release element (30) is further coupled to the injection button (10) by a plurality of fingers (31, 15) which disengages the injection button (10) from the release element (30) in the first position and engages the injection button (10) with the release element (30) in the second position, such that the injection button (10) can move a distance axially independently of the release element (30) in the first position and the injection button (10) and the release element (30) move axially together in the second position.

A needle syringe has a plunger and a needle for filling and dispensing liquid from the cavity. The cavity has finger clip with movable locking pins. The plunger has at least one set of grooves corresponding to a specific dosage for the needle syringe, the specific dosage of the groove being demarked by a marking ledge that indicates a change to a deeper depth section of the groove. The locking pins are configured to rest in the at least one set of grooves, such that when the plunger is removed, the locking pins pass within a first shallow section of the groove, pass over the ledge, and continue to pass in the deeper depth section of the groove. When the plunger is depressed in a first partial dispensing movement, the locking pins pass in the deeper depth section of the groove until the plunger depression is temporarily locked when the locking pins reach the ledge, where the dose remaining in the cavity is the specific dosage.

A system for confirming acquisition of a fluid sample is provided. The system includes a wearable electronic device configured to be worn by a user. The device has a housing, at least one imaging sensor associated with the housing, a data transmission interface for sending data to or receiving data from an external electronic device, a microprocessor for managing the at least one imaging sensor and the data transmission interface, and a program for acquiring and processing images acquired by the at least one imaging sensor. The system further includes a sampling device for collecting a fluid sample in a sample container and at least one identification tag attached to or integrally formed with the sampling device or sample container. The at least one identification tag includes or is associated with a tracking code.

INTEGRATED MEDICAMENT DELIVERY DEVICE FOR USE WITH CONTINUOUS ANALYTE SENSOR

An integrated system for the monitoring and treating diabetes is provided, including an integrated receiver/hand-held medicament injection pen, including electronics, for use with a continuous glucose sensor. In some embodiments, the receiver is configured to receive continuous glucose sensor data, to calculate a medicament therapy (e.g., via the integrated system electronics) and to automatically set a bolus dose of the integrated hand-held medicament injection pen, whereby the user can manually inject the bolus dose of medicament into the host. In some embodiments, the integrated receiver and hand-held medicament injection pen are integrally formed, while in other embodiments they are detachably connected and communicated via mutually engaging electrical contacts and/or via wireless communication.

RECORDING DOSE DATA FROM DRUG INJECTION DEVICES USING OPTICAL CHARACTER RECOGNITION (OCR)
20170316158 · 2017-11-02 ·

A method of recording a medicament dose using a data collection device comprises capturing an image of a medicament dose indicator of a medicament delivery device, adjusting a scale of said image, adjusting said image for skew of one or more characters displayed by the medicament dose indicator, determining the position of at least one of said one or more characters in the image, identifying the at least one character using optical character recognition and determining a medicament dose indicator by the medicament dose indicator based on a result of the optical character recognition. The method may be performed using a handheld electronic device comprising a camera, such as a cellphone, a tablet computer or other device. A computer program for controlling a data collection device to perform the method may be provided in the form of a software application or “app”.

RECORDING DOSE DATA FROM DRUG INJECTION DEVICES USING OPTICAL CHARACTER RECOGNITION (OCR)
20170316157 · 2017-11-02 ·

A method of recording a medicament dose using a data collection device comprises capturing, by a video camera of said data collection device, a video showing a medicament dose indicator of a medicament delivery device, adjusting a scale of an image of said medicament dose indicator in said video, adjusting said image for skew of one or more characters displayed on a component of the medicament delivery device in said video, determining the position of at least one of said one or more characters in the image, identifying the at least one character using optical character recognition and determining a medicament dose shown by the medicament dose indicator based on a result of said optical character recognition. The method may include determining whether more than one delivery of medicament is recorded in the video and, if so, whether said more than one delivery includes one or more prime shots, so that an overall dosage delivered to a user may be determined based on multiple determined medicament doses. A wearable electronic device comprising a video camera may be used to obtain and analyse the video, for example, using software provided in an “app”. The wearable electronic device may be configured to be worn on the head of a user, to capture the video from the user's point of view.
