MEDICAMENT DELIVERY DEVICE AND METHODS FOR DELIVERING DRUGS TO INFANTS AND CHILDREN

A method of delivering epinephrine includes placing a distal end surface of a medical injector into contact with a target location of a patient. The medical injector includes a housing, an energy storage member, and a medicament container containing a dose of epinephrine effective for administration to the patient experiencing anaphylaxis and having a weight of less than 15 kg. The medicament container is coupled to a needle. The medical injector is actuated such that the energy storage member produces a force to move the needle from a first needle position to a second needle position. A distal tip of the needle extends from the distal end surface by a distance of between 7 millimeters and 8 millimeters when the needle is in the second needle position. A portion of the force is exerted to expel the dose of epinephrine when the needle is in the second position.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DETECTING APPLIED FORCE DURING INJECTION

A medical device (100) includes an insulin pen (102), a pen needle (104) and a force sensor (106). The device also includes a microprocessor (206) to receive a signal from the force sensor (106). Audible and/or visual indicators (218, 220) provide feedback to a user to encourage proper injection technique. The device may also include an adaptor assembly comprising a sensor housing (306) and a first sensor (304) within the sensor housing, and a transfer needle assembly (308), the transfer needle assembly providing a connection (310) for a pen needle, and providing a fluid conduit between the pen needle (312) and the insulin pen (302). A second force sensor (314) is associated with a thumb button of the insulin pen (302).

Driving configuration for a drug delivery device

The driving configuration for a drug delivery device comprises an energy storing member (2) providing a force suitable for driving a bung (1) arranged in a container (3), the bung being movable relative to the container. The energy storing member (2) is loaded by an alteration of its mechanical state with respect to a mounting element (5), which is relocatable in such a manner that a force provided by the energy storing member when it is loaded is reduced by a relocation of the mounting element.

The dosing mechanism comprises a dosing sleeve which is rotatable relative to the housing in a first direction for setting a product dosage and which is rotatable relative to the housing in a second, opposite direction for correcting or dispensing a product dosage. The dispensing mechanism comprises a piston rod, at least one sleeve, and a clutch. The device further comprises a first detector for detecting movement of the clutch relative to the dosing sleeve and/or the housing and/or the at least one sleeve and a data processing unit connected to the first detector for reading, storing, processing, transmitting, and/or displaying signals received from the first detector.

System and method for collecting injection information

A system for measuring injection of a liquid medicine includes a syringe body having proximal and distal ends, a syringe interior, and a syringe flange at the proximal end thereof. The system also includes a stopper member disposed in the syringe interior. The system further includes a plunger member coupled to the stopper member and configured to be manipulated to insert the stopper member distally in the syringe interior relative to the syringe body. Moreover, the system includes a needle coupled to the syringe body at the distal end thereof. In addition, the system includes a sensor flange removably coupled to a syringe body. The sensor flange includes a sensor to measure an injection characteristic and a processor to analyze the injection characteristic to determine an occurrence of an injection event.

Device and method for detecting an actuation action performable with a medical device

An apparatus is disclosed, comprising a detector unit comprising a detector configured to detect an actuation action performable via the detector unit to an actuation button of a medical device to cause the medical device to eject at least a portion of a medicament comprised in the medical device. The detector is configured to detect the actuation action based on a detection of a force and/or a touch applied to the detector unit as part of the actuation action. The apparatus further comprises an electric unit connected to the detector and configured to store and/or provide information related to the detected actuation action. Furthermore, an according method and a computer program for controlling this method are disclosed.

DRUG CARTRIDGE WITH DRIVE SYSTEM

Drive systems for a drug delivery device are provided. The drive systems can be positioned within a container that stores a liquid drug to be delivered to a user. The drive systems can be coupled to a plunger positioned within the container. The drive systems can be incrementally advanced to drive the plunger further into the container, thereby expelling a portion of the stored liquid drug from the container for delivery to the user. The container can be any type of container including a pre-filled, standardized drug cartridge. The drive systems and container can be components of a wearable drug delivery device.
