Syringe with priming mechanism
Syringes are described herein. A syringe includes a syringe body, a first plunger, a biasing member, and a retention member. The syringe body defines a syringe cavity and a syringe port, wherein the syringe port is in fluid communication with the syringe cavity. The first plunger comprises a first plunger shaft extending from the first plunger, the first plunger disposed within the syringe cavity and defining a first chamber in the syringe cavity, wherein the first chamber is in fluid communication with the syringe port. The biasing member is coupled to the first plunger shaft, wherein the biasing member urges the first plunger to advance toward the syringe port. The retention mechanism prevents the biasing member from advancing the first plunger in an engaged position and permits the biasing member to advance the first plunger in a released position.
SENSOR FOR USE WITH A DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE
An optical decoding system including an optical sensor integral with or attachable to a housing of a drug delivery device and configured to be directed at first and second rotatable components of a dose setting and dispensing mechanism of the drug delivery device and a processor configured to: (i) cause the optical sensor to capture images of the first and second rotatable components at least at the beginning and end of a medicament dose dispensing process; (ii) determine a rotational position of both the first and second rotatable components in each of the captured images; and (iii) determine from the rotational positions of the first and second rotatable components an amount of medicament delivered by the dose setting and dispensing mechanism of the drug delivery device.
Emergency Medication Dose Device to Provide Error-Free Pediatric Medication Doses.
This invention provides a means by which correct dosages of emergency medication can be provided to children under emergency situations. A color- and size-coded set of cylinders is provided where the colors match the color codes of the Broselow® Pediatric Emergency Tape, a common method by which the proper dosage for child is estimated based on the child's height. Each type of medication in the emergency kit has its own color-coded set of cylinders, such that once emergency medical personnel measure the child and determine which medication to use, all they need to do is grab the correct cylinder based on the color (which has already been determined from the Broselow® measurement). The invention allows emergency medical personnel to safely, efficiently, quickly, and accurately deliver the correct dosage of one or more medications to a child under emergency conditions.
Spacer Assembly for Drug Delivery System
A drug delivery system for injecting a medicament includes a container including a closure and a stopper configured to move within the container from a pre-use position to a post-use position. The system includes a drive assembly configured to move the stopper between first and second positions, and a spacer assembly engaged with the stopper configured to be engaged by the drive assembly. The spacer assembly includes a first spacer portion received within the stopper, a second spacer portion spaced from the first spacer portion, an inner plunger, and a spacer shuttle received by the inner plunger. The inner plunger, the spacer shuttle, and the second portion are configured to move relative to the stopper, where movement of the second spacer portion is restricted by the spacer shuttle, movement of the spacer shuttle is restricted by the inner plunger, and movement of the inner plunger is restricted by the stopper.
INJECTION DEVICE AND COMPONENTS THEREOF
Disclosed are an injection device and a method of using the same. The injection device includes an injection drive assembly including a pneumatic piston chamber, dose chamber, pneumatic piston slidably positioned in the pneumatic piston chamber and an injectate piston slidably positioned in the dose chamber. The injection drive assembly is configured so that any energy resulting from an application of force to the injection drive assembly is instantaneously available for the initiation of injection. In another aspect, the injection device includes separate respective resilient members for each of the pistons that are configured to position each piston in their respective pre-injection positions. In still another aspect, the injection device includes a valve assembly configured to provide pressurized fluid to the pneumatic piston chamber. The rate of the movement of the valve between open and closed positions is independent of control by a user of the injection device.
Monitoring Device
The present invention relates to a monitoring device (10) arranged to be operably connected to a medicament delivery device (12), said medicament delivery device (12) comprising a manually operated movable dose activation element (20), said monitoring device (10) comprising an electronic circuit (42), said electronic circuit (42) comprising an optical sensor (68), wherein said optical sensor (68) is positioned in relation to said dose activation element (20) so as to detect a manual operation of said dose activation element (20) from an initial position; said electronics circuit further comprising a vibration sensor (70), wherein said vibration sensor (70) is positioned in relation to said medicament delivery device so as to detect specific vibration spectra produced by the medicament delivery device when said dose activating element (20) is operated, wherein said electronic circuit (42) comprises computing elements capable of correlating the information from the optical sensor (68) with the information from the vibration sensor (70) when said dose activation element (20) is operated in order to register when a correct dose has been set.
SYRINGE
This invention relates to a method of identifying an accurate dosage of medicine in a dosage chamber of a syringe including the steps of providing an accurate dosage of a detailed single dosage medicine for insertion into a dosage chamber of a syringe; identifying the accurate dosage of medicine in the dosage chamber by retaining a notifier of the accurate dosage; securing the notifier with the syringe wherein the accurate dosage of medicine in a dosage chamber of a syringe is shown by the details on the notifier when secured with the syringe and allowing usage of the syringe to dispense the accurate dosage.
Drug cartridge with drive system
Drive systems for a drug delivery device are provided. The drive systems can be positioned within a container that stores a liquid drug to be delivered to a user. The drive systems can be coupled to a plunger positioned within the container. The drive systems can be incrementally advanced to drive the plunger further into the container, thereby expelling a portion of the stored liquid drug from the container for delivery to the user. The container can be any type of container including a pre-filled, standardized drug cartridge. The drive systems and container can be components of a wearable drug delivery device.
End of injection indicator for injection pen
A medication injection pen (50) includes a housing (1) and a dose set knob (2) rotatably connected to the housing (1) for setting a dose. An indicator member (200) is movable between a visible position indicating a zero position of the dose set knob (2) and a non-visible position indicating a non-zero position of the dose set knob (2). The indicator member is visible to a user in the visible position and not visible to the user in the non-visible position. The dose set knob is in the zero position when a set dose has been completely administered. Accordingly, a visible indication is provided to the user when a set dose has been completely administered.
