MICRO-INFUSION DEVICE AND INFUSION SET

Systems and methods of micro-infusion of medical fluids are disclosed. Micro-infusion systems may include a pump, a patient interface, tubing between the pump and the interface, and a micro-infusion device along the tubing. A first portion of the tubing above the micro-infusion device is longer than a second portion of the tubing below the device. The micro-infusion device may include a chamber in-line with the tubing, a first valve between the chamber and the first portion of the tubing, a second valve between the chamber and the second portion of the tubing and a third valve between the chamber and a dump chamber. The second valve may be slidably disposed within the chamber. A medical fluid may be provided into the chamber that slides the second valve displacing another fluid in the chamber through the third valve into the dump chamber.

The present invention relates to a drug preparation and drug delivery device comprising: a drug preparation unit comprising at least two receptacles capable of containing constituents to be mixed, at least one of the receptacles being movable inside the drug preparation unit, a drug administration means, such as an injection or spray means, a fluid circuit capable of fluidically connecting the at least two receptacles and the administration means, the connecting of the fluid circuit with the at least two receptacles being made using at least two piercing means when said at least two receptacles move from an initial position to a contact position with said at least two corresponding piercing means, an electromechanical assembly for fluidically driving the constituents within the fluid circuit, characterised in that said drug preparation unit comprises a release mechanism comprising a compressed drive spring which, when it is released, is capable of generating a movement along an axis A1 of at least one of the movable receptacles towards at least one of said piercing means in order to create the fluid connection with the fluid circuit.

The vial assembly includes a first piercing element moveable between a retracted position and an extended position for piercing the first sealing membrane to provide fluid communication between the first fluid chamber and the first vial, and a second piercing element moveable between a retracted position and an extended position for piercing the second sealing membrane to provide fluid communication between the second fluid chamber and the second vial.

The device also includes a needle and a plunger. After activation of the device, the plunger is configured to (i) move the dual-chamber reservoir a given distance in a distal direction with respect to the interior body so that a distal end of the needle extends out of the interior body and (ii) after moving the dual-chamber reservoir the given distance, move in the distal direction with respect to the dual-chamber reservoir so as to eject from the needle the first medicament followed by the second medicament.
