Medical waste container

Disclosed is a waste container comprising a port in communication with a tube where the port is configured to receive a fluid from an implement and the tube is configured to direct the fluid from the implement toward an absorbent material within the waste container.

INJECTION DEVICE

Injection monitoring circuitry is provided for coupling to part of an injection device having a syringe and a plunger rod. The injection monitoring circuitry has an input to receive force measurement data from a force sensor, the force measurement data includes a plurality of timestamped force measurements of force applied by a user to the injection device when an injection is administered to an injection site. Processing circuitry is provided to determine from the force measurement data when an end of injection has been reached, the end of injection corresponding to the plunger rod having reached an end position in a distal portion of the barrel of the syringe during administration of the injection by the user. Machine readable instructions and an injection monitoring method are also provided.

Pen needle container

A container (10) for storing new and used pen needles (20,30), the container (10) comprising a housing (12) including a first compartment (50) configured to store one or mom new pen needles (20), and a second compartment (52) configured to store one or more used pen needles (30), wherein the first and second compartments (50,52) are inversely adjustable in size to accommodate various combinations of new and used pen needles (20, 30).

Semi-reusable palm activated injector system

An injection system includes a handle assembly with a handle body having an outer surface surrounding a handle body interior and a plunger extending therethrough. A tubular handle collar is telescopically received in the handle body exterior and is axially movable with respect to the handle body. A syringe housing assembly is selectively connectable to the handle assembly and includes a syringe housing and a tubular syringe sleeve telescopically received through a distal end of the syringe housing and axially movable with respect thereto. The syringe housing has an exterior side surface surrounding a syringe housing interior configured to receive at least a portion of a syringe. The syringe sleeve has a proximal end, a distal end with a skin contact surface, and a generally cylindrically-shaped outer surface.

Medical injector with coupled body portions

A medical injector is provided herein which includes first and second body portions each having a longitudinal axis and configured to couple at a coupling. The medical injector also includes an axially-displaceable plunger; biasing element for advancing the plunger a predetermined distance; and, a releasable retainer for releasably retaining the plunger in a first state against the force of the biasing element. In an initial state, the axes of the first and second body portions are not aligned and the plunger is in the first state. In a coupled state, the axes of the first and second body portions are axially aligned, and the releasable retainer releases the plunger, thereby allowing the biasing element to advance the plunger the predetermined distance. Advantageously, the subject invention provides a medical injector having an automated plunger drive which is triggered upon assembly of the pen injector, thereby minimizing premature or failed activations.

Efficient and adequate disposal of medical infectious waste is proportional to the reduction of the spread of infectious diseases and the disease itself among humans. The essence of this invention is that infectious medical waste is in a timely, fast, efficient, simple, and environmentally friendly safely disposed of and turned into inert-municipal waste. Previous methods and devices for the disposal of infectious medical waste involved long-term procedures for the collection, sorting and storage of infectious medical waste, which increases the risk of secondary infections. This invention skips the process of collecting, sorting and storing medical infectious waste, and the entire process in the invention takes place in three unbreakable phases whose end product is municipal-inert waste. It is important to emphasize that with this invention, even the smallest amount of infectious medical waste will be disposed of immediately in an appropriate manner. And as a result, a maximum control over all medical infectious waste is achieved.

Sharp extractor and method of extracting a sharp from a medical device

A sharp extractor has a ram that is actuatable to move from a disengaged position to an engaged position to dislodge a sharp from a medical device, and then return back to the disengaged position. With the medical device secured in axial alignment with the ram, the actuator is actuated to move to its engaged position, whereupon the sharp is detached from the medical device. The dislodged sharp is channeled directly into a medical waste container. Upon removing the sharp from the medical device, the medical device can be treated as standard medical waste, thereby reducing the cost associated with disposal of the medical device. With the volume of the sharp being greatly reduced as a result of removal from the relatively bulky medical device, the frequency of having to dispose the sharps can be greatly reduced, thereby further reducing cost associated with the disposal of the sharps.
