20230191040 · 2023-06-22 ·

A needle assembly for medical or surgical use is disclosed, such as for hemodialysis. A representative needle assembly comprises an outer needle assembly and an integral needle tip protector. A representative outer needle assembly comprises: an outer needle comprising: a first lumen; a first aperture with a sharp needle tip at a first distal end of the outer needle; and a second aperture arranged opposite the first aperture. In another embodiment, the outer needle has a longitudinal slot and the integral needle tip protector includes a sliding connector which is slidable in the longitudinal slot. The integral needle tip protector is arranged within the first lumen and moveable between a retracted configuration and an extended configuration, and comprises: a needle tip cover arranged to shield the sharp needle tip in the extended configuration, the needle tip cover having a smooth or beveled distal surface forming a blunt tip.

DELIVERY OF LOW VISCOSITY FORMULATIONS

Low-viscosity nucleic acid compositions that can be administered by oral or multiple parenteral routes may allow for less frequent dosing than nucleic acid products currently on the market. In particular, low-viscosity defibrotide formulations for subcutaneous, intramuscular, intradermal, and intraperitoneal administration are more convenient to the patient and/or are administered outside of the hospital setting. Formulations of the invention may be used for the treatment of numerous conditions including for example, treatment of peripheral arteriopathies, treatment of acute renal insufficiency, treatment of acute myocardial ischemia, and treatment and prevention of sinusoidal obstruction syndrome or VOD.

ENDOLUMINAL DELIVERY CANNULA AND ASSEMBLY, AND RELATED METHODS

This disclosure is for an endoluminal delivery cannula, for delivery of a substance to an extravascular target site via the vascular system of a human or animal body, wherein the cannula comprises a proximal cannula hub, an elongated proximal, and a tip portion. The tip is tapered towards the distal tip which is preferably provided with a pointed tip for penetrating tissue. The pointed tip may comprise at least one primary facet and two secondary facets, wherein the two secondary facets are arranged proximally of said primary facet. An endoluminal delivery assembly comprises the cannula, a protective catheter adapted for insertion into the vascular system of a human or animal body, and a proximal catheter hub provided at the proximal end of the catheter and adapted for guiding the catheter through the vascular system.

Described here are systems and methods for accessing Schlemm's canal, for delivering a fluid composition therein, and for tearing the trabecular meshwork. The fluid composition may be a viscoelastic fluid that is delivered into the canal to facilitate drainage of aqueous humor by disrupting the canal and surrounding trabeculocanalicular tissues. The systems described here may be configured to cut or tear the trabecular meshwork with the body of an elongate member located within Schlemm's canal.

Drug Delivery Device Comprising a Prism

The present invention relates to a drug delivery device comprising a dose setting member (70) for setting user variable doses of a medicament and a display for indicating the dose set by the dose setting member (70). The display comprises a number wheel (100), which is rotationally coupled to the dose setting member (70) and is provided with a series of markings on its outer circumference, and at least one prism (90) deviating the image of the markings of the number wheel (100), e.g. by 90°.

An injection includes a tube having opposite first and second ends. A hub is coupled to the first end. A sheath is coupled to the tube and the hub. The hub is movable relative to the tube to move the sheath between a first orientation in which the sheath covers an orifice in the second end and a second orientation in which the sheath is spaced apart from the orifice. Kits and methods of use are disclosed.

BIOPSY NEEDLE DESIGN

A biopsy needle assembly includes a mandrel within a cannula, the needle assembly is fired into a target tissue to obtain a tissue sample using a force source imparting movement to the needle assembly. The mandrel and cannula design, and force source characteristics minimize needle deflection, and allow the needle assembly to excise extended length tissue samples. The mandrel forms tissue retention ridges within a tissue sample region to reduce fragmentation of the tissue sample.

Fluid dispenser

A fluid dispensing device is provided for dispensing a measured amount of fluid into a living organism. The device has a needle having a first end and a second end. The needle is adapted for interfacing, on the first end, with a septum of a flexible hollow membrane, and at a second end thereof, for subcutaneously inserting into a living organism. The needle is guided by a guide to permit an injection into the living organism at a substantially non-orthogonal angle with respect to a surface of the living organism. The first and second ends of the needle pierce their respective piercing surface while translating together in a common direction. In other embodiments, the dispensing device includes a main housing, a flexible fluid reservoir, an injection assembly and a trigger mechanism. The main housing houses the operative components of the device.

Needle for transcutaneous analyte sensor delivery

The present disclosure relates to a needle including a wall structure, a cutting edge and a blunt contour. The needle advantageously can be used to deliver a sensor (such as a glucose or other analyte sensor) through an outer skin layer and into a sensor depth in a less invasive way than prior art needles. The size of the cutting edge is balanced against a portion of the distal wall structure that has blunt contours. Thus, the needle is capable of cutting the more durable outer skin layer (first phase) and then progressively stretching open the cut for further advancement into the subcutaneous layer (second phase). When the needle is sufficiently advanced, it is retracted leaving the sensor in a desired position. Early testing has shown a reduction of “dip and recover” from glucose sensors delivered using the needle.

Apparatus and methods for ocular treatment are provided. The apparatus can comprise an outer sheath and a microcannula movably housed within the outer sheath and having a proximal end, a distal end, a cavity, and a central longitudinal axis. The apparatus can include a first protrusion extending circumferentially inward at a distal end of the outer sheath and a second protrusion located on an outer circumferential surface of the microcannula. The apparatus can include multiple orifices disposed on the microcannula distal end, each of the orifices defining a channel extending transverse to the central longitudinal axis and configured to deliver a substance radially outwardly from the distal tip of the microcannula. The distal tip can extend out from a distal opening of the outer sheath when the microcannula is in an extended position and can be housed within the outer sheath when the microcannula is in a retracted position.
