Bite block with a needle alignment attachment system
11596497 · 2023-03-07 ·

A bite block with inclined surfaces fits between a patient's upper and lower jaws to hold them apart and fixes the bite block position relative to the jaws. A support plate slides relative to the bite block to position a needle guide on the support plate along an axis of the support plate. A position stop on the support plate contacts the anterior border of the Ramus of the patient's mandible to position the needle guide along the axis. A syringe needle is guided by the needle guide to a predetermined location to administer anesthetic, preferably to the inferior alveolar nerve as it enters the mandible. The needle guide is inclined to avoid gaging and a tongue depressor attached to the support plate positions the patient's tongue.

ANESTHESIA APPLICATORS/INJECTORS FOR DENTAL AND OTHER APPLICATIONS AND METHODS OF USE
20230158253 · 2023-05-25 ·

Disclosed are applicators and methods injecting of a liquid anesthetic into a dental patient with no or minimal pain. In accordance with one embodiment the applicator is for intraligamentary injection and includes an elongated, thin member having an open distal free formed of a resilient and somewhat conformable material suitable for producing a substantially fluid-tight interface with the anatomic structures at the gingival sulcus to inject the anesthetic therein. In another embodiment the applicator includes a flexible skirt surrounding a sharpened cannula, with the cannula being movable with respect to the skirt. The skirt is arranged to receive the anesthetic to anesthetize the gum, whereupon the cannula can then pierce the gum to inject the anesthetic into the underlying anatomic structure.

Injector Device

An injector device includes a housing and a cartridge having a reservoir for medicament. The injector device further includes a needle unit comprising a needle, and an actuator. The needle unit is movably mounted to the housing and, prior to use of the injector device the reservoir, is sealed from the needle. The actuator is configured to move the needle unit into engagement with the cartridge such that the needle is moved into fluid communication with the reservoir. A thread is arranged to cause rotation of the needle unit as the needle unit moves into engagement with the cartridge.

Resorbable, drug-eluting submucosal turbinate implant device and method

Implants are placed in turbinate mucosal tissue using a surgical device having a proximal grip portion and a distal hollow sharp needle portion that is manipulated using the grip portion and inserted submucosally into mucosal turbinate tissue. One or more biodegradable, drug-eluting solid implants are disposed within the needle. The implants have one or more implant withdrawal-discouraging, mucosal tissue-engaging surface features along their length. An actuator disposed within the device is used to deliver one or more of the implants from the needle into the mucosal turbinate tissue and submucosally bury at least one such tissue-engaging feature therein.

ACTIVABLE INJECTION DEVICE

Activable injection device including: an external casing having a first opening to be put in fluidic communication with a first reservoir and a second opening to be put in fluidic communication with a second reservoir; an internal body having a first and a second fluidic path, being linearly mobile inside the external casing and being thus able to be translated between a fluid gathering position and a fluid injection position; and an injection needle in fluidic communication with the second fluidic path. The fluid gathering position puts the first opening of the external casing in fluidic communication with the second opening of the external casing through the first fluidic path. The fluid injection position puts one of the openings of the external casing in fluidic communication with the injection needle through the second fluidic path.

APPARATUS FOR SUBRETINAL INJECTION
20230111131 · 2023-04-13 ·

An apparatus disclosed herein may include a housing, an injection line sub-assembly coupled to a distal end of the housing, a fluid selector coupled to the housing and movable between a first position and a second position, a drug container coupled to the housing and disposed between the fluid selector and the sub-assembly, and a drug container bypass line coupled to the housing and disposed between the fluid selector and the sub-assembly. When the fluid selector is in the first position, a first outlet of the fluid selector is in fluid communication with the drug container bypass line for injecting a fluid through the drug container bypass line and into the sub-assembly. When the fluid selector is in the second position, a second outlet of the fluid selector is in fluid communication with the drug container for injecting a drug from the drug container into the sub-assembly.

Drug delivery device

The subject invention provides a drug delivery device for injecting medicament which includes a tubular reservoir; a stopper slidably disposed in the reservoir; a spring for moving the stopper in the reservoir; at least one needle, the needle having a distal end for insertion into a patient, and a lumen extending proximally from the distal end, the lumen being in direct or indirect communication with the reservoir; a needle driver for displacing the needle; and an actuator. Activation of the actuator causes the spring to move the stopper and the needle driver to displace the needle. The needle moves relative to, and separately from, the reservoir with the needle being displaced. Advantageously, with the subject invention, a drug delivery device is provided wherein a needle is moved, relative to the reservoir, in being displaced for injection. This permits control of the needle displacement separate from the reservoir.

INGESTIBLE DEVICE WITH DELIVERY MEMBER DETACHMENT

An ingestible device is disclosed suitable for swallowing into a lumen of a gastrointestinal tract of a patient, the lumen having a lumen wall. The ingestible device (100, 200) comprises: a capsule (110, 120), a delivery member (130) being shaped to penetrate tissue of a lumen wall and having a tissue penetrating end and a trailing end, the delivery member (130) comprising a therapeutic payload, a ram (150) attached relative to the delivery member (130) at the trailing end; and an actuator (140) coupled to the ram (150) and having a first configuration and a second configuration, the delivery member (130) being retained by the ram (150) within the capsule (110, 120) when the actuator (140) is in the first configuration, wherein the delivery member (130) is configured to be advanced from the capsule (110, 120) and into the lumen wall by movement of the actuator (140) from the first configuration to the second configuration such that the delivery member (130) moves along a predefined trajectory. The ram (150) is configured for being tilted relative to the predefined trajectory upon the actuator (140) moving into the second configuration to detach at least a portion of the delivery member (130) from the ram (150) such that the detached portion of the delivery member (130) remains within the lumen wall to release therapeutic payload.
