Apparatus and methods for ocular injection
An apparatus includes a housing coupled to a medicament container, which is coupled to a needle. An injection assembly is disposed within the housing and includes an energy storage member and an actuation rod. A distal end portion of the actuation rod is disposed within the medicament container. The energy storage member can produce a force on a proximal end portion of the actuation rod sufficient to move the distal end portion of the actuation rod within the medicament container. This can convey at least a portion of a substance from the medicament container via the needle when a distal tip of the needle is disposed within a first region of a target location. The force is insufficient to move the distal end portion of the actuation rod within the medicament container when the distal tip of the needle is disposed within a second region of the target location.
Soft tip cannula with retractable tip protector
Injector devices and methods for using them to deliver medicament into a patient's body, e.g., sub-retinally within an eye, are provided. The injector includes an injector cannula having a soft injector tip. A retractable tip protector tube is slidably disposed on the flow cannula between an extended position in which the tip protector tube covers the entire injector tip, and a retracted position in which the tip protector tube is retracted proximally thereby exposing at least part of the injector tip. Accordingly, the tip protector tube protects the injector tip from being damaged while advancing the injector tip to a target injection site.
LOCK ADAPTER, SYRINGE ASSEMBLY, AND PREFILLED SYRINGE
A lock adapter, a syringe assembly, and a prefilled syringe capable of suppressing variation in position on the tip end side of the lock adapter after being subjected to an autoclave sterilization process. The lock adapter is attached to the periphery of a nozzle portion at the tip end of the prefilled syringe and slidable in an axial direction of the nozzle portion. The lock adapter includes: a cylindrical body portion surrounding the periphery of the nozzle portion; and a claw portion protruding to an inner peripheral side from a base end portion of the cylindrical body portion and configured to determine a tip end position of the lock adapter by being caught in an annular rib extending in a circumferential direction of the nozzle portion, in which the claw portion has a circumferential shape when viewed from the axial direction and is integrally connected in the circumferential direction.
Drug delivery device for drug suspensions
A drug delivery device is provided herein, the device including a reservoir for containing a medicament. The medicament includes a suspension of solids in a liquid carrier. The device also includes a needle having a distal end for injection into a patient, a proximal end in communication with the reservoir, and a lumen extending between the distal and proximal ends. A path is defined from the reservoir to the distal end of the needle through the lumen, the path having an inner diameter that decreases in a proximal to distal direction along at least a portion thereof. Advantageously, with the subject invention, a flow path may be defined which provides a more gradual transition in diameter from the reservoir to a distal tip of the needle. In this manner, changes in velocity of the suspension may be less abrupt than in the prior art, thus better maintaining solid particles in the suspension.
CONTAINER HOLDER ASSEMBLY FOR MEDICAMENT DELIVERY DEVICE, AND MEDICAMENT DELIVERY DEVICE
A container holder assembly for a medicament delivery device is provided having a container holder and a needle assembly, where the container holder has a distal tubular body for receiving a multi-chamber container therein, the distal tubular body comprising a distal body engaging structure on an external surface configured to movably engage an actuator device of the medicament delivery device in order to releasably connect the container holder to the actuator device, and a proximal tubular part having a proximal body engaging structure connected to the needle assembly, where the needle assembly has a hub having an injection needle with a distal needle end and a proximal needle end, the distal needle end being isolated from the multi-chamber container when the multi-chamber container is received in the distal tubular body. A medicament delivery device having a container holder assembly is also provided.
DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEMS INCLUDING DISPLACEABLE CLOSURES
A drug delivery system includes a drug containing device and a drug delivery device. The drug containing device includes a chamber carrying a fluid drug and an outlet in fluid communication with the chamber. A first closure initially inhibits the fluid drug from exiting the drug containing device via the outlet. The drug delivery device includes a fluid passageway and a stem having an inlet in fluid communication with the fluid passageway. The stem displaces the first closure from the outlet and enters the outlet to provide fluid communication between the chamber and the fluid passageway and thereby facilitates delivery of the fluid drug to the drug delivery device. A second closure is coupled to the stem, and the second closure engages the first body at the outlet when the stem enters the outlet to inhibit the fluid drug from exiting the drug containing device around the stem.
Valved needle assembly
A valved needle assembly including a needle hub provided to a proximal end side of a hollow needle, and a valve member incorporated therein for blocking communication with the hollow needle. A protrusion protrudes from a distal end side toward a proximal end side inside the needle hub and the valve member blocks the proximal end side of the protrusion inside the needle hub. A central valve part of the valve member having a slit moves toward the protrusion such that the slit is opened and placed in communication by the protrusion. The central valve part includes a distal end tubular part and a proximal end tubular part extending from its outer circumferential portion toward the distal end side and the proximal end side respectively.
INJECTION PEN DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS FOR MEDICINE ADMINISTRATION AND TRACKING
A method for medicine administration and tracking and system for the same that may implement the method via a health management application running on a computing device includes tracking movement of an injection pen from a start location to a dispensing location, detecting a dispensing event of medicine dispensed from the injection pen at the dispensing location, determining a location of the dispensing location relative to a user's body, associating information relating to the detected dispensing event with information relating to the determined location, and providing feedback based upon the detected dispensing event information and the determined location information.
Safety IV catheter with V-clip interlock and needle tip capture
A catheter assembly (10) comprises a catheter (22), a needle (12) having a sharp distal tip, a catheter hub (14) housing the catheter (22), the catheter hub (14) having a collar (34) including a notch (36), a needle shield (20) connected to the catheter hub (14) when the needle (12) is in a first position, and a clip (40) disposed in the needle shield (20) that cooperates with the needle (12), wherein the clip (40) engages the catheter hub (14) in the first position of the needle (12), and the clip (40) disengages the catheter hub (14) via the notch (36) when the needle (12) is retracted to a second position to cover at least a portion of the needle (12). The clip (40) is mounted in the outer housing (38) of the needle shield (20) via a spade (66) having an outer wall (70) exposed to the outside of the needle shield (20), in order to reduce the overall width of the needle shield (20).
Pen needle hub injection depth optimization
A needle hub (10) for a pen needle is provided with an enlarged surface for contact with the skin of a patient. The enlarged surface is provided with a surface having a dimension and shape to enable a needle or cannula to penetrate the skin to a desired depth and permit substantially the entire exposed length of the needle or cannula to penetrate the skin to the desired depth. The surface of the needle hub can be formed by an inner cone shaped member (26) forming a first contact surface with a surface area of about 1-5 mm.sup.2 and an outer ring (28) at a peripheral edge forming a second contact surface with a combined surface area of about 15 to 50 mm.sup.2.
