Increased effectiveness of allylamine drug compounds for topical treatment of fungal infections of the skin and skin appendages
The invention is an increased effectiveness of allylamine drug compounds for topical treatment of fungal infections of skin and skin appendages. The allylamine active ingredient is prepared in an acidic environment; the acidic environment altering the physiochemical properties of the active ingredient resulting in the active ingredient having a positive charge. The positive charge and enhancers used in the formula allow for increased penetration of the active ingredient through skin and skin appendages. The positively charged active ingredients are either dissolved in the vehicle directly or dissolved in a plurality of beads suspended in the vehicle. The bead structure minimizes the molecular diffusion of the positively charged active ingredient and a catalytic species through the bead structure, thus stabilizes the positively charged active ingredient inside the bead by impeding the interaction of the positively charged active ingredient and the catalytic species, and thereby extending the shelf life of the positively charged active ingredient.
LIPOSOME COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME
Provided are a liposome composition which has a practically required long-term preservation stability, and which has a release rate of a drug on the order of several tens of hours due to releasability of a drug being able to be suitably controlled by rendering an inner water phase hyper-osmotic; and a method for producing the same. According to the present invention, it is possible to provide a liposome composition, including liposomes each of which has an inner water phase and an aqueous solution which constitutes an outer water phase and in which the liposomes are dispersed, in which the content of cholesterols is 10 mol % to 35 mol % with respect to the total amount of lipid components in the liposome composition, and each of the liposomes encapsulates a drug in a dissolved state, and an osmotic pressure of the inner water phase is 2-fold to 8-fold relative to the osmotic pressure of the outer water phase.
Stabilizing camptothecin pharmaceutical compositions
Irinotecan phospholipid liposomes with improved storage stability are provided, with related methods of treatment and manufacture. The irinotecan liposomes can have reduced formation of lyso-phosphatidylcholine (lyso-PC) during storage, and prior to administration to a patient.
Liposomal Mitigation of Drug-Induced Long QT Syndrome and Potassium Delayed-Rectifier Current
Compositions and methods for the treatment of drug-induced long QT syndrome and other cardiac channelopathies are disclosed herein. The compositions and methods of the present invention comprise binding one or more QT prolonging drugs with a liposome prior to parenteral (intravenous or subcutaneous) administration, or administration of an empty liposome prior to or concomitantly with therapeutic agents known to have a high risk of QT prolongation, or immediately following an envenomation. The results presented show an abrogation of the adverse effects of QT prolonging drugs in a dose-dependent manner by the compositions of the present invention.
MULTI-COMPONENT NANOCHAINS
A multi-component nanochain for use in diagnostic and therapeutic applications includes at least three nanoparticles linked together to form the nanochain. At least one nanoparticle of the nanochain has an asymmetric surface chemistry defined by asymmetrically disposed first linkers and second linkers. The nanoparticles are linked to form the nanochain by linking first linkers and/or second linkers disposed on separate nanoparticles.
Liposomes useful for drug delivery
The present invention provides liposome compositions containing substituted ammonium and/or polyanion, and optionally with a desired therapeutic or imaging entity. The present invention also provide methods of making the liposome compositions provided by the present invention.
Pharmaceutical composition combining at least two distinct nanoparticles and a pharmaceutical compound, preparation and uses thereof
The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising the combination of (i) at least two distinct biocompatible nanoparticles and (ii) at least one compound of interest, typically at least one pharmaceutical compound, to be administered to a subject in need of such at least one compound of interest, wherein the at least two distinct biocompatible nanoparticles potentiate the compound(s) of interest efficiency. The at least two biocompatible nanoparticles can be administered sequentially or simultaneously to the subject but are to be administered separately, typically with an interval of between more than about 5 minutes and about 72 hours, from the at least one compound of interest, preferably before the administration of the at least one compound of interest, to said subject. The longest dimension of the at least two biocompatible nanoparticles is typically between about 4 nm and about 500 nm. The absolute surface charge value of a first biocompatible nanoparticle is of at least |10 mV| and the absolute surface charge value of the second biocompatible nanoparticle, or of any additional biocompatible nanoparticle, has a difference of at least 10 mV with the absolute surface charge value of the first biocompatible nanoparticle.
