SYSTEMS FOR EVALUATING RESPIRATORY FUNCTION USING FORCED OSCILLATION TECHNIQUE (FOT) OSCILLOMETRY
Systems for evaluating the respiratory function of an individual using forced oscillation technique (FOT) oscillometry include a blower controlled so as to apply FOT pressure oscillations on top of a low amplitude offset pressure. A controller continually adjusts the rotational speed of the blower to maintain a targeted time-varying pressure profile in the breathing air provided to the patient.
Systems and methods for therapeutic intrathoracic pressure regulation
Embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for delivering respiratory treatment to a patient. For example, a treatment system may include a mechanism for delivering a positive pressure breath to a patient, and one or more limb flow control assemblies which modulate gas flow to and from the patient. Exemplary treatment techniques are embodied in anesthesia machines, mechanical ventilators, and manual ventilators.
HEAT AND MOISTURE EXCHANGER FOR A PATIENT INTERFACE
A patient interface for supplying a flow of breathable gas to the airways of a patient may comprise a heat and moisture exchanger (HME). The HME may be positioned in a flow path of the flow of breathable gas. The HME may absorb heat and moisture from gas exhaled by the patient and the incoming flow of breathable gas to be supplied to the patient's airways may be heated and moisturized by the heat and moisture held in the HME.
Gas delivery method and apparatus
An apparatus, method and system for delivering CO.sub.2 into an inspiratory gas stream to formulate a blended respiratory gas in a manner that continuously maintains a target CO.sub.2 concentration in a volume of the inspired respiratory gas, for example, over the course of a breath or a volumetrically definable part thereof or a series of partial or full breaths.
Flow therapy
A method of estimating a parameter indicative of respiratory flow of a patient being administered flow therapy, comprising: optionally administering a gas at a flow rate to the patient using a flow therapy apparatus with a patient interface, determining a terminal pressure in, at or proximate the outlet of the patient interface or in, at or proximate the nares of the patient, determining nasal RTF, determining a nasal flow parameter being or indicative of nasal flow based on the pressure and a nasal RTF, and optionally outputting the nasal flow parameter or parameter derived therefrom.
Resuscitation and ventilation asynchrony monitor
Resuscitation and ventilation monitoring devices are provided. A device includes an inlet in fluid communication with airflows exchanged with lungs of a patient and an airflow meter for measuring characteristics of the airflows. A user may provide a controller with patient information, e.g., height, weight, gender, or age, via a measurement selector, enabling the controller to determine acceptable ranges of measured airflow characteristics. The device may determine a current mode of ventilation and associated ventilator settings based on the measured airflow characteristics. The device may also identify and filter out artifacts present in the ventilation signal, and determine whether a respiratory failure phenotype is present in the ventilation. If the current mode of ventilation and associated ventilator settings fall outside an acceptable range, the ventilation is classified as off-target and the controller may cause a sensory alarm to alert the user. The device may suggest a corrective action based on the type of off-target ventilation detected. The device may also continuously analyze ventilation to determine changes in lung compliance over time and to identify pathological changes over time. The device may work within a network of devices and user interfaces via wired or wireless communication, and is not restricted to or dependent on the type of ventilatory device with which a patient is being supported.
Flow sensing arrangement for spirometer and method thereof
A flow-sensing arrangement within a spirometer. The arrangement includes a tubular-member for allowing an air-passage along a longitudinal-axis thereof. At-least two disc-shaped air-resistive elements are removably-arranged within the tubular member to resist the air-flow. Each of the resistive-elements include perforations for allowing the air-passage through the resistive-element. At-least two ports extend radially outward through a wall of the tubular member, such that each of the two ports are located within the tubular-member near the resistive-elements to cause determination of at least a pressure-difference there-between.
SLEEP APNEA AND ANTI-SNORING SYSTEM
A micro, single piece, tubeless, cordless, directly inserted oral, nasal or hybrid sleep apnea treatment/anti-snoring device having controlled positive air-flow using a vibrationally isolated micro-blower to maintain an individual's upper airway unobstructed (pharynx area) with or without lower jaw, mandibular advancement is disclosed.
VENTILATION ARRANGEMENT AND TREATMENT METHOD
A ventilation arrangement (1) comprises an induction device (2) and a control unit (3). The induction device (2) has an electro-magnetic field generator (21) with a coil design (211) configured to generate a spatial electro-magnetic field having a targeted shape. The control unit (3) is in communication with the induction device (2) and configured to control the induction device (2) to generate the electro-magnetic field. The electro-magnetic field generator (21) of the induction device (2) is configured to be positioned at a human or animal patient (5) such that, for activating a diaphragm of the patient (5), a Phrenic nerve of the patient (5) is stimulatable by the spatial electro-magnetic field generated by the coil design (211). The control unit (3) is connectable to a ventilation machine (6) to receive ventilation data about a ventilation of the patient (5). The control unit (3) is configured to evaluate the ventilation data and to operate the induction device (2) in accordance with the evaluated ventilation data.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETECTING MOUTH LEAK
The present disclosure relates to a method for determining a mouth leak status associated with a user of a respiratory device is disclosed. Airflow data associated with the user of the respiratory device is received. The respiratory device is configured to supply pressurized air to an airway of the user during a therapy session. The airflow data includes pressure data. The airflow data associated with the user is analyzed. Based at least in part on the analysis, the mouth leak status associated with the user is determined. The mouth leak status is indicative of whether or not air is leaking from a mouth of the user.
