Method and apparatus for providing artificial ventilation to a trachea of a patient
An airway catheter (AC) includes a catheter tube having proximal and distal tube end faces in fluid communication with a tube lumen. The distal tube end face and a portion of the tube wall collectively form a distal tube end region. A plurality of side holes extend laterally through the tube wall. An inflatable cuff is secured to the outer tube wall surface with an inner cuff volume in fluid communication with the tube lumen via the side holes. A resistor plug has proximal and distal plug end faces in fluid communication with a plug lumen and is defined laterally by a plug wall. The resistor plug is maintained within at least a portion of the tube lumen in the distal tube end region with an outer plug wall surface being at least partially in compressive contact with the inner tube wall surface.
Tracheal intubation facilitator with superior ventilating capability
We describe a Tracheal Tube insertion facilitator (modified bougie) with superior ventilating capability to enable medical/paramedical personnel to place tracheal/bronchial tubes reliably in trachea/bronchus of the patients under anaesthesia or patients in respiratory distress, and provide respiratory support. This device is particularly useful in situations where the conventional tracheal intubation technique using a laryngoscope is difficult or near impossible. This device has a outer cylindrical member, inner hollow stylet and a dynamic cuff which inflates during Positive Pressure Ventilation/Jet ventilation, and hence enabling oxygenation in patients with respiratory distress even before the tracheal tube is inserted into the patient's airway.
SELF-DEPLOYED CUFF AND SKIRT TRACHEAL TUBE
A method and system for an endotracheal tube or tracheostomy a tube formed with a hole, a cuff connected to the tube and formed around the hole, and a skirt connected to the tube above the cuff and draped over the cuff. A coating of a hydrophobic, lipophobic, and oleophobic substance can be disposed on the interior and exterior surface of the tube, the cuff, and the skirt. A stylet and siring may be used to secure the skirt during in-sertion in a detachable fashion. The string is retractable on withdrawal of the stylet.
SYSTEMS METHODS OF SAFELY DELIVERING AN EFFICIENT AMOUNT OF OXYGEN TO ESSENTIAL ORGANS DURING CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION
A system for safely delivering an efficient amount of oxygen to essential organs, during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is described; a respective method and an endotracheal device for delivering a semi-spontaneous positive-pressure ventilation are further described; the system comprises; at least one limb compression device, a positive-pressure ventilation system, an endotracheal tube, a cardiac stimulation device, an intra-tracheal pressure sensor, a synchronizer; the method comprises; compressing at least one limb device and occluding a blood flow into the limb, delivering a mixture of gases, providing an endotracheal tube, conferring a deployed configuration, conferring a withheld configuration, performing a cardiac stimulation device, determining a pressure, synchronizing a timing; the endotracheal device comprises; an elongated tube, a sealing cuff assuming a deployed configuration and withheld
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PURGING MOISTURE FROM THE INFLATION APPARATUS ON AN ARTIFICIAL AIRWAY
A system and method for periodically providing air pressure through an air line coupled to an air cuff in order to purge unwanted moisture from the air line while maintaining pressure in the air cuff. An air pressure measurement device is coupled to the air line by means of pneumatic circuit and determines whether the air pressure in the air line and coupled air cuff is equal to, greater than or less than a preprogrammed air pressure value. A pressure regulator receives the air measurement signal and is configured to control an air pressure device to increase or decrease the air pressure in the air line based upon the measured air pressure. A purge regulator controls the air pressure device to periodically cause the air pressure device to increase the air pressure in the air line to a predetermined level for a predetermined period of time at predetermined intervals in order to rid the air line of any accumulated moisture.
