In one aspect of the present disclosure, an airway device is disclosed that includes a bite block and a depressor section. The bite block has proximal and distal ends and is configured and dimensioned for positioning between a patient's upper and lower teeth. The depressor section also has proximal and distal ends and extends distally from the bite block. The depressor section includes upper and lower members that are separated by a web as well as a stop. The lower member includes a first portion having a generally linear configuration and a second portion having an arcuate configuration, and the stop depends transversely from the first portion of the lower member.

An oral airway includes a first component having a first guiding surface and a second component having a second guiding surface. The first component and the second component are adapted to be removably coupled together such that the first guiding surface and the second guiding surface collectively define and encompass an interior passage through the oral airway that is dimensioned to direct, for example, a fiber-optic scope or an endotracheal tube extending through the interior passage for tracheal intubation. The first and second components are configured to be decoupled and independently removed from a patient's mouth without disrupting an endotracheal tube that has been extended through the conduit for tracheal intubation. The first and second components may be maintained in coupled disposition by an interlocking mechanical structure. The first and second components also may be maintained in coupled disposition by magnetism.

Oral device for mandibular advancement and medial tongue constraint

An oral device for temporary placement in a patient's oral cavity includes upper and lower jaw braces and a tongue-engaging member. The upper and lower jaw braces are connected so that the lower jaw brace is advanced in an anterior direction relative to the upper jaw brace when the upper and lower jaw braces are closed together. A partial vacuum is drawn in the oral cavity and the vacuum and lower jaw displacement together control the position of the tongue in order to clear the patient's airway to reduce sleep apnea or treat other conditions.

An oropharyngeal airway device includes an elongated hollow body having proximal and distal ends, and a collar secured to the proximal end of the elongated hollow body. The device also includes an aspiration tube and an adapter where the adapter has a first open end and an opposing second open end. The first and second open ends are each coupled to the aspiration tube. In addition, the device includes a delivery conduit coupled to the adapter and positioned within the elongated hollow body in order to deliver gas from a gas supply to the distal end of the elongated hollow body and into an airway of a patient. The device includes at least one fastener within the collar for removably securing the adapter to the collar.

Featured herein is a surgical airway device (10) that is constructed and arranged to be placed into the mouth of a patient to maintain a surgical airway in the patient. Also featured is a method of using such a surgical airway device (10). The surgical airway device (10) has a flange (20) that is constructed and arranged to be located outside of the mouth, an inner tube (21) that defines a working channel (22) defining an anterior opening in the flange (20) and located proximate the lips, and a posterior end (26) located in the back of the mouth. There is an outer tube (70) that is generally coaxial with, spaced from and fully or partially surrounds the inner tube (21), wherein a coaxial gap (80) is located between at least part of the outer tube (70) and the inner tube (21). There is a first lumen (30) that is in fluid communication with the working channel (22) and a second lumen (40) that is in fluid communication with the coaxial gap (80).

Mouthpiece may have an adjustment mechanism to alter distance between the vestibular shield and the extra-oral seal. The interface may include an elbow having a vent.
