Other embodiments are also included herein.
DETECTION AND PRESSURE RELIEF FOR PERCUTANEOUS CLOSURE OF A VESSEL
A pressure relief device for use in a percutaneous procedure, the device comprising a tube having a distal opening into an internal lumen and a proximal opening from the internal lumen, a length of the tube sized to position the distal opening near a closed arteriotomy in a vessel and the proximal opening remains external to a patient’s skin. Related devices, kits, and methods are provided.
Catheter system and method of use
Urinary tract infections UTI may be over-diagnosed in very young children because of contamination of a urine specimen by external bacteria when using a conventional catheter. The subject matter disclosed herein relates to a coaxial catheter system and methods for its use, comprising an outer catheter that shields the distal collection opening of an inner catheter during insertion of the system through the meatus. Once the system has been deployed, the distal opening of the inner catheter is exposed in order to collect uncontaminated urine. The system may include a variety of mechanisms to advance the inner catheter relative to the outer, or to retract the outer catheter relative to the inner, a halting mechanism to limit distal movement of the outer catheter, a stopping mechanism to limit distal movement of the inner catheter, and a stabilization mechanism to hold the deployed system in place in male patients.
CATHETER DEVICES AND METHODS OF USE
The disclosure includes a catheter comprising a proximal end, a distal end located opposite the proximal end, an outer surface extending between the proximal end and the distal end, and an inner surface located opposite the outer surface, wherein the inner surface is configured to also extend between the proximal end and the distal end. In some embodiments, each of the outer and inner surfaces is coated in a hydrophilic coating. The hydrophilic coating may be configured to reduce surface tension and increase the lubricity of the catheter.
CATHETER SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF USE
The disclosure includes a catheter system comprising an inner catheter and an outer catheter configured to at least partially receive the inner catheter. Each of the inner catheter and the outer catheter may comprise an outer surface and an inner surface, wherein each of the outer and inner surfaces may be coated in a hydrophilic coating. In some embodiments, the hydrophilic coating is configured to reduce surface tension and increase lubricity of the inner catheter and the outer catheter.
EXPANDABLE SHEATH FOR INTRODUCING AN ENDOVASCULAR DELIVERY DEVICE INTO A BODY
Aspects of an expandable sheath can be used in conjunction with a catheter assembly to introduce a prosthetic device, such as a heart valve, into a patient. Such aspects can minimize trauma to the vessel by allowing for temporary expansion of a portion of the introducer sheath to accommodate the delivery apparatus, followed by a return to the original diameter once the prosthetic device passes through. Some aspects can include various configurations of the sheath that comprise an elongated tube having a disclosed composition that can form an outer jacket or a strain relief jacket or can be used as the outer layer of the sheath. Aspects of the present expandable sheath can avoid the need for multiple insertions for the dilation of the vessel and reduce the push force needed for passage of the medical device, thus offering advantages over prior art introducer sheaths.
Surface modification for dialysis catheters
Catheters and a method of preparation thereof, the catheter comprising a catheter body, a juncture hub, extension lines and connectors, the catheter body having a proximal end, a distal end, an exterior surface, a tip region having a length of 10 cm measured from the distal end of the catheter body, and at least two lumen, each of the catheter body lumen having a proximal end, a distal end, a Lumen Aspect Ratio of at least 3:1, and an intraluminal surface, the distal ends of the at least two catheter body lumen being (i) non-coterminus or (ii) laser-cut, the exterior surface of the catheter body in the tip region or the intraluminal surface of the two catheter body lumen comprising a hydrophilic polymer layer having an Average Dry Thickness of at least about 50 nanometers.
Catheter including an inner liner with a flexible distal section
In some examples, a catheter includes a catheter body including an outer jacket and an inner liner. The inner liner may include a proximal section including a proximal end of the inner liner and a distal section including a distal end of the inner liner. The distal section may include an inner liner defining a plurality of cuts. Each cut may extend at least partially through the liner wall. The one or more cuts defined in the liner wall of the distal section of the inner liner may increase a bending flexibility of the distal section relative to the proximal section of the inner liner, while maintaining a suitable tensile strength of the distal section.
EXPANDABLE INTRODUCER SHEATH HAVING A STEERING MECHANISM
An expandable introducer sheath provided with a steering mechanism is disclosed. The introducer sheath is configured for providing a prosthesis delivery system percutaneous access to a patient's vasculature. The introducer sheath includes a sheath component defining a central lumen and having a longitudinally-extending, radially-expandable portion. The sheath component also includes a steering wire slidably disposed within a wall thereof that longitudinally extends along the radially-expandable portion. When the steering wire is in a slackened configuration, the steering wire permits a width of the radially-expandable portion to increase. When the steering wire is in a taut configuration, the steering wire permits a distal portion of the sheath component to be manipulated or bent in order to align a distal port of the introducer sheath, for instance, with an ostium of a branch vessel.
A Tube Having an Interior Lubricious Coating and Systems and Methods of Applying the Same
A method for coating an inner lumen surface of a tube with a coating solution comprises the steps of moving a coating solution through a tube via a withdrawal system and depositing the coating solution onto an inner lumen surface of the tube. The thickness of the coating solution is deposited onto the inner lumen surface of the tube is between 1 μm and 25 μm. The method further comprises applying a pressure to the tube using a pressure source when the coating solution is within the tube to manipulate a surface tension between the coating solution and the inner lumen surface of the tube.
