A protective case protects a communication device and an item, such as credit cards and money. The protective case is fabricated from a material inhibiting moisture, providing buoyancy, and minimizing shock forces. The protective case comprises a first compartment for storage of the communication device and a second compartment for storage of the item. A lid having a seal inhibits passage of moisture in the compartments. A grip portion enhances grip of the protective case. A tethering portion enables tethering of the protective case to a user. A tether locking portion, slides along the tethering portion for length adjustment. An aperture aligns with a socket in the communication device receiving a cable carrying a signal to the communication device. A cap inhibits passage of moisture into the aperture. At least one opening in the protective case enables detachable attachment of the tethering portion and a fastener.

A waterproof housing for a digital device includes front and rear bulkhead members for sealably holding a digital device having a touch screen. The touch screen is positioned to be viewed through a transparent surface of the rear bulkhead, which includes an aperture through which an actuator is sealably positioned. The actuator includes a shaft extending through the aperture, a control member connected to an outer end of the shaft, a stop member affixed to the control member for contacting the housing or engaging the recess, an extension member connected to an inner end of the shaft, a first probe affixed to the extension member near the shaft, and a second probe affixed to the extension member at an off-center position relative to a center axis defined by the shaft. The actuator is configured to selectively operate the first and second probes to execute touch motions on the touch screen.

A waterproof housing for a digital device includes front and rear bulkhead members for sealably holding a digital device having a touch screen. The touch screen is positioned to be viewed through a transparent surface of the rear bulkhead, which includes an aperture through which an actuator is sealably positioned. The actuator includes a shaft extending through the aperture, a control member connected to an outer end of the shaft, a stop member affixed to the control member for contacting the housing or engaging the recess, an extension member connected to an inner end of the shaft, a first probe affixed to the extension member near the shaft, and a second probe affixed to the extension member at an off-center position relative to a center axis defined by the shaft. The actuator is configured to selectively operate the first and second probes to execute touch motions on the touch screen.

A camera case that includes a buoyant material. The buoyant material forms a cavity defined by a top side, a right side, a bottom side, and a left side, and the cavity is configured to removably receive a camera. A front opening extends into the cavity. A rear opening is located opposite the front opening, and the rear opening is larger than the front opening so that the camera is extendable into the cavity through the rear opening. A button recess in the top side is aligned with a physical input interface of the camera. A mount opening extends through the bottom side of the camera case to receives a portion of a support member so that the support member and the camera are connectable through the mount opening. The camera case includes a sufficient amount of the buoyant material to float the camera in water when the camera is inserted into the cavity.

An apparatus for protecting and providing user access to a touch sensitive device underwater, comprising a waterproof casing comprising an inner cavity configured to receive the touch sensitive device, the casing comprising: a first area of the casing for providing user access to the touch sensitive device; a transparent first membrane arranged to cover at least part of the first area of the casing, the inner cavity configured to receive the touch sensitive device so that user interface of the touch sensitive device being arranged adjacent to the membrane of the first area; a pressurized non-conductive fluid arranged to the inner cavity to provide a gap between the user interface of the touch sensitive device and the membrane; a pressure control membrane arranged to cover at least part of a second area of the casing; and a pressure control element operationally connected to the pressure control membrane, configured to flexibly bend the pressure control membrane to change pressure of the pressurized non-conductive fluid.

An apparatus for protecting and providing user access to a touch sensitive device underwater, comprising a waterproof casing comprising an inner cavity configured to receive the touch sensitive device, the casing comprising: a first area of the casing for providing user access to the touch sensitive device; a transparent first membrane arranged to cover at least part of the first area of the casing, the inner cavity configured to receive the touch sensitive device so that user interface of the touch sensitive device being arranged adjacent to the membrane of the first area; a pressurized non-conductive fluid arranged to the inner cavity to provide a gap between the user interface of the touch sensitive device and the membrane; a pressure control membrane arranged to cover at least part of a second area of the casing; and a pressure control element operationally connected to the pressure control membrane, configured to flexibly bend the pressure control membrane to change pressure of the pressurized non-conductive fluid.

An insulating device can include an aperture having a waterproof closure which allows access to the chamber within the insulating device. The closure can help prevent any fluid leakage into and out of the insulating device if the insulating device is overturned or in any configuration other than upright. The closure may also prevent any fluid from permeating into the chamber if the insulating device is exposed to precipitation, other fluid, or submersed under water. This construction results in an insulating chamber that is substantially impervious to water and other liquids when the closure is sealed.

A waterproof sound-transmitting member includes a waterproof sound-transmitting membrane and a support layer. The support layer includes a polyolefin-based resin foam. The support layer has a loss modulus of 1.010.sup.7 Pa or less and a loss factor of 1.010.sup.1 or more. The waterproof sound-transmitting membrane is, for example, a stretched porous polytetrafluoroethylene membrane. The waterproof sound-transmitting membrane may include an adhesive layer.
