CATHETER DEVICES WITH VALVES AND RELATED METHODS

Needle assemblies and related methods in which a valve opener is used to push into a valve to open one or more slits on the valve to open the valve. The needle assemblies each includes a needle hub with a needle, a catheter tube with a catheter hub and the valve and valve opener positioned in the interior cavity of the catheter hub. The valve can have a valve skirt and a nose section of the valve opener can locate therein. One or more reliefs can be provided with the valve opener so that an elbow or diagonal section on a needle guard can project from a holding space within the valve opener through the relief.

VALVED CATHETER ASSEMBLIES AND RELATED METHODS

Valves are described for intravenous (IV) catheter assemblies for controlling fluidic flow. The valve can prevent blood leakage in multiple access use situations. A thinner area of the valve around a slit is provided. The thicker area of the valve is to provide rigidity to the valve so that it is able to return to a closed configuration when a Luer connector is removed.

HEMOSTASIS VALVE FOR SHEATH ASSEMBLY

An introducer sheath assembly for percutaneously delivering a medical device that maintains hemostasis in a patient. The assembly has a hub, a hub cap and a hemostasis valve. The introducer sheath assembly has a longitudinal axis and a lumen formed therein. The hemostasis valve has a frame portion and a valve portion, the valve portion having a plurality of slits that are offset through the thickness of the valve portion therein and an extension of the frame portion formed from an incompressible material. The extension of the frame portion is received by a valve seat feature in the hub, when the valve is received by the hub. The valve seat feature also receives a seating portion of the hub cap as the hub and hub cap are advanced into engagement, the seating portion of the hub cap advanced into the valve seat feature subjecting the incompressible extension of the frame portion to a compressive force.

SEAL-HEALING VALVE FOR A MEDICAL INSTRUMENT

The present application discloses medical instruments that utilize self-healing polymers as all or portion of the valves and valve assemblies thereof, such that these valves can self-heal while or after being punctured by an ancillary device during a surgical procedure and thereby help minimize blood loss and achieve hemostasis.

VALVED NEEDLE ASSEMBLY

A valved needle assembly including a needle hub provided to a proximal end side of a hollow needle, and a valve member incorporated therein for blocking communication with the hollow needle. A protrusion protrudes from a distal end side toward a proximal end side inside the needle hub and the valve member blocks the proximal end side of the protrusion inside the needle hub. A central valve part of the valve member having a slit moves toward the protrusion such that the slit is opened and placed in communication by the protrusion. The central valve part includes a distal end tubular part and a proximal end tubular part extending from its outer circumferential portion toward the distal end side and the proximal end side respectively.

A therapeutic delivery device for medical connectors and tubing can be used to perform an antimicrobial lock procedure. The therapeutic delivery device can include a head portion configured to attach to a medical fluid connector and a distally extending projection configured to be inserted into the medical fluid connector. At least a portion of the projection or an entire surface of the therapeutic delivery device can be coated with antimicrobial material(s), such as chlorhexidine gluconate, and can be in contact with a fluid in a catheter coupled to the medical fluid connector to form an antimicrobial locking solution.

Catheter assembly with high viscosity lubricant and related methods

A method of preventing blood leakage through a septum of a catheter assembly when a needle is disposed within a slit of the septum may include providing a lubricant within multiple gaps disposed between an outer surface of the needle and the slit. The lubricant may include a viscosity greater than 1,000 centipoise. Providing the lubricant within the multiple gaps may include applying the lubricant to the outer surface of the needle, and inserting the lubricated needle distally through the slit of the septum. Providing the lubricant within the multiple gaps may include applying the lubricant to a tip of a septum actuator of the catheter assembly, and penetrating the septum with the lubricated septum actuator. Providing the lubricant within the plurality of gaps may include dispensing the lubricant within the slit of the septum prior to insertion of the septum into the lumen of the catheter adapter.
