Priming System for Infusion Devices
Priming systems and infusion assemblies are provided. For example, a priming system comprises a priming conduit having a priming portion and a pressure portion. The priming portion is in fluid communication with a first fluid source, with an inlet and an outlet for ingress and egress of a first fluid from the first fluid source. The pressure portion is in fluid communication with a second fluid source connected by a connector. Disposed within the priming conduit are a biasing member and a valve having an open position and a closed position. The biasing member is in operable communication with the valve to urge the valve into the closed position such that the valve defaults to the closed position. The open position allows the first fluid to flow from the inlet to the outlet and the closed position prevents the first fluid from flowing from the inlet to the outlet.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR DELIVERING POWDERED AGENTS
A device for delivering an agent may comprise a source of agent; a mixing chamber for receiving fluid and the agent; an outlet in fluid communication with the mixing chamber to deliver the fluid and the agent; and an actuator configured to (1) deliver a first flow of the fluid substantially free from the agent through the outlet; (2) after delivering the first flow, deliver a second flow of the fluid and the agent through the outlet; and (3) after delivering the second flow, deliver a third flow of the fluid substantially free from the agent through the outlet.
VASCULAR CLOSURE DEVICES AND METHODS
Vascular closure assembly embodiments may be used to provide hemostasis at vascular puncture sites or the like. Such vascular puncture or access sites may be created during a variety of percutaneous or minimally invasive medical procedures.
DRIP CHAMBER WITH NEEDLE VALVE
Valve bodies are described herein. A valve body is disclosed to control fluid flow through a drip chamber defining a chamber volume and comprises a chamber body coupling, a valve inlet, a valve outlet, and a needle valve assembly. The chamber body coupling receives the drip chamber. The valve inlet or the valve outlet is configured to be in fluid communication with the chamber volume. The needle valve assembly comprises a fixed needle valve surface; and a movable needle valve surface, wherein the movable needle valve surface is axially movable relative to the fixed needle valve surface to control a flow rate between the valve inlet and the valve outlet.
System and method for safety syringe
One embodiment is directed to a system for injecting, comprising a syringe body defining an interior medicine chamber; a stopper member configured to be inserted into the interior medicine chamber to contain medicine within the medicine chamber; a plunger member configured to be manually manipulated to insert the stopper member relative to the syringe body; and a needle having proximal and distal ends, the proximal end comprising an anchoring geometry configured to be at least partially inserted into the stopper member such that upon retraction of the stopper member, the needle is pulled proximally along with the stopper to be at least partially contained within the interior medicine chamber.
CATHETER VALVE
The present invention relates to a catheter valve for use with a catheter. The catheter valve comprises an inlet nozzle at a front end of the valve and an outlet nozzle at a rear end of the valve. The valve comprises a longitudinal stem encapsulated within a middle section of the valve which extends in between the front end and the rear end of the valve. The longitudinal stem is divided into a front end and a rear end by a rib and an O-ring is inserted into the front end of the stem; and a resilient means is inserted into the rear end of the stem; the front end of the longitudinal stem further comprises sectional longitudinal grooves which cuts across the longitudinal and cylindrical stem extending from a head end of the front end of the stem up till the rib of the stem and the head end is curved inwardly in between each sectional longitudinal groove; and the rear end of the longitudinal stem further comprises sectional longitudinal grooves which cuts across the longitudinal and cylindrical stem in a triangular form extending from a head end of the rear end of the stem up till a bottom interface of the rib.
Blocking and/or restricting valve and blood treatment device comprising such a valve
The invention relates to a blocking and/or restricting valve having a valve housing which has a fluid system having a fluid inlet, a fluid outlet and a fluid chamber arranged therebetween, wherein the fluid chamber comprises a blocking geometry and is bounded by a barrier membrane with respect to the blocking geometry, wherein the barrier membrane is connected to a tappet on its side remote from the fluid chamber (8) such that it can be pressed toward the blocking geometry by a movement of the tappet and can be lifted thereby, and wherein the tappet is arranged in a freely floating manner in a hollow space of the valve housing.
Connector with integrated non-return check valve for extension tubing and urology collection systems
A connector-with-integrated-check-valve for minimizing microbial migration to catheter-tubing is formed from three parts: a connector-for-catheter-tubing that is hollow and with an internal valve seat; an elastomer gate (sometimes with disc and stem); and a connector-for-extension-tubing that is hollow and with support-surfaces. When one end of the connector-for-catheter-tubing is attached to one end of the connector-for-extension-tubing, a pocket is formed where the seat is disposed opposite and facing the support-surfaces; the gate is disposed within this pocket; such that when the gate contacts this seat due to urine backflow (reflux), the connector-with-integrated-check-valve is closed to such urine backflow; and where a remaining end of the connector-for-catheter-tubing is attachable to catheter-tubing; and where a remaining end of the connector-for-extension-tubing is attachable to the extension-tubing, such that there is a continuous urine flow path from the catheter-tubing, to the connector-with-integrated-check-valve when open, and to the extension-tubing.
Method and apparatus for treating fluid build-up in a body cavity, including method and apparatus for treating ascites and pleural effusions
A method for treating pleural effusion in a patient, the method comprising: providing a valve comprising: a body having a distal end, a proximal end and a lumen extending therebetween; an inlet disposed at the proximal end of the body, the inlet being fluidically connected to the lumen; an outlet disposed at the distal end of the body, the outlet being fluidically connected to the lumen; and at least one valve element disposed in the lumen of the body, the at least one valve element being a one-way valve element configured to permit the passage of fluid in a single direction through the lumen of the body; and implanting the valve in the body of the patient such that the inlet of the valve is fluidically connected to the pleural cavity of the patient, and such that the outlet of the valve is fluidically connected to a second body cavity.
