INTRAVASCULAR BLOOD PUMPS, MOTORS, AND FLUID CONTROL
Intravascular blood pumps systems and methods of use. The blood pump system includes a catheter portion having a distal blood pump with one or more distal collapsible impellers. The system can include a clean purge fluid pathway to carry clean fluid distally to the blood pump and a purge fluid return pathway to carry return fluid proximally into an external motor and out a proximal end of the motor, and optionally to a waste reservoir.
Mechanical treatment of heart failure
Apparatus is provided for treating heart failure, the apparatus including one or more propeller blades and a controller, which is configured to rotate the one or more propeller blades to produce continuous non-pulsatile blood flow not synchronized with a cardiac cycle of a subject. An intra-atrial anchor includes a stent surrounding the one or more propeller blades. The intra-atrial anchor is coupled to the one or more propeller blades and configured to be anchored in a left atrium of the subject so as to position the one or more propeller blades in the left atrium oriented such that the one or more propeller blades, when rotated by the controller, draw blood from the left atrium and expel the blood in the left atrium toward a mitral valve, thereby increasing atrial pressure above the mitral valve. Other embodiments are also described.
FUNCTIONAL ELEMENT, IN PARTICULAR FLUID PUMP, HAVING A HOUSING AND A CONVEYING ELEMENT
The invention relates to a fluid pump having a housing delimiting a fluid chamber and having a conveying element for the fluid disposed in the fluid chamber, the housing, with respect to the shape and/or size thereof, being able to be changed between at least a first, expanded state and a second, compressed state. The object, to stabilise adequately a corresponding housing, is achieved according to the invention by the housing having at least one stabilisation chamber which can be supplied with a fluid pressure and is different from the fluid chamber, the first state of the housing being assigned to a first fluid pressure in the stabilisation chamber and the second state of the housing being assigned to a second fluid pressure.

Heart pump providing adjustable outflow
A heart pump is disclosed herein. The heart pump can include a cannula having one or more outlets. An impeller can be positioned in the cannula. The impeller can be configured to pump blood through the outlets along a longitudinal axis when the impeller is rotated at an operational speed. The heart pump can be configured to adjust an effective area of the outlets while the impeller is rotating or to provide relative motion between the cannula and the impeller along the longitudinal axis while the impeller is rotating.

DEVICES AND METHODS FOR TRANSFERRING POWER TO IMPLANTED MEDICAL DEVICES
Systems, devices and methods are provided for supporting cardiac function. One system comprises an implantable intracardiac device comprising a motor and a pump, a transmitting resonator comprising a magnetic coil and configured to transmit a first level of power through an outer skin surface of the patient and a receiving resonator configured for implantation within the patient, comprising a magnetic coil and configured to transmit a second level of power to the motor within the implanted device. A controller is coupled to the transmitting resonator and configured to control the resonators and other parameters in the system such that the second level of power remains at or above a threshold level, thereby ensuring that the pump will continuously pump blood through the heart at a sufficient rate regardless of any changes in the system, such as power loss due to transmission inefficiencies and/or changes in the relative positions between the transmitting and receiving coils.
