PRESSURE REGULATOR

A pressure regulator for controlling flow of a fluid therethrough is provided. An upper housing member and a primary diaphragm define an upper chamber and a lower housing member and the primary diaphragm define a lower chamber. The pressure regulator further includes: a valve assembly provided within the upper chamber for controlling the flow of the fluid from an inlet body into the upper chamber; a secondary diaphragm provided within the lower chamber and defining a secondary diaphragm driving chamber; and a passageway connecting the inlet body and the secondary diaphragm driving chamber. During operation, the secondary diaphragm driving chamber is filled with the fluid at the inlet pressure, thereby subjecting the secondary diaphragm to the inlet pressure and generating the force for actuating the valve's disengagement from the inlet body. The pressure regulator functions to maintain the outlet pressure at a value that is a predetermined fraction of the inlet pressure.

A control system having a pressure regulator, first pilot, and second pilot. The pressure regulator has a fluid inlet, fluid outlet, and actuator assembly with a cavity divided into a first chamber in fluid communication with the fluid outlet and a second chamber. The first pilot has a first setpoint and the second pilot has a second setpoint, less than the first setpoint. The first and second pilots fluidly couple the second chamber to the fluid outlet and isolate the second chamber from the fluid inlet in a first mode of operation, isolate the second chamber from the fluid outlet and fluid inlet in a second mode of operation, and fluidly couple the second chamber to the fluid inlet in a third mode of operation.

Pressure regulating valve with incorporated shut-off mechanism

A pressure regulator has a pressure chamber connected to an inlet flow area which receives liquid flow. As liquid flows into a forward chamber of the pressure chamber, pressure is exerted on the forward face of the piston, which in turn causes the piston to slide longitudinally through the pressure chamber. An internal passageway through the piston fluidically connects the forward pressure chamber and rear pressure chamber such that as the piston slides into the rear pressure chamber pressure increases at the rear pressure chamber, which in turn forces the piston to move forwardly, thus regulating flow out of the pressure chamber. A hand wheel is configured to turn a movable plate located inside the pressure chamber, with the movable plate configured to impede the piston from moving rearwardly. Pressure sensors and vents with a pressurized air source may be used to keep the pressure within a desired range.

A pressure isolation device for a pipeline system is described. The pressure isolation device changes from an open position to a closed position when the pressure of a fluid flowing through the device exceeds a predetermined threshold pressure. In some embodiments, the predetermined threshold pressure is defined, in part, by a spring. The pressure isolation device provides a simple mechanical solution to protecting pipeline components from over-pressurization.
