Left heart assist device and method
A device, a kit and a method is presented for permanently augmenting the pump function of the left heart. The mitral valve plane is assisted in a movement along the left ventricular long axis during each heart cycle. The very close relationship between the coronary sinus and the mitral valve is used by various embodiments of a medical device providing this assisted movement. By means of catheter technique an implant is inserted into the coronary sinus, the device is augmenting the up and down movement of the mitral valve and thereby increasing the left ventricular diastolic filling when moving upwards and the piston effect of the closed mitral valve when moving downwards.
Device and a method for augmenting heart function
A device, a kit and a method are presented for permanently augmenting the pump function of the left heart. The basis for the presented innovation is an augmentation of the physiologically up and down movement of the mitral valve during each heart cycle. By means of catheter technique, minimal surgery, or open heart surgery implants are inserted into the left ventricle, the mitral valve annulus, the left atrium and adjacent tissue in order to augment the natural up and down movement of the mitral valve and thereby increasing the left ventricular diastolic filling and the piston effect of the closed mitral valve when moving towards the apex of said heart in systole and/or away from said apex in diastole.
HEART HELP DEVICE, SYSTEM AND METHOD
A method of fixating an implantable heart help device in a human patient is provided. The method comprises the steps of: cutting the skin of said human patient, dissecting an area of the body comprising bone, and fixating said implantable heart help device to said part of the body comprising bone.
HEART HELP DEVICE, METHOD AND SYSTEM
An implantable device for improving the pump function of the heart of a human patient by applying an external force on the heart muscle. The device comprises at least one pump device comprising a heart contacting organ, an operating device for operating the heart contacting organ, and an implantable pressurized fluid system. The fluid system comprises a first implantable chamber adapted to hold a pressurized fluid, wherein said first chamber is adapted to hold a fluid having a high pressure and a second implantable chamber adapted to hold a pressurized fluid, wherein said second chamber is adapted to hold a fluid having a lower pressure. The movement of the heart contacting organ assists the pump function of the heart.
Heart help device system and method
An implantable device for improving the pump function of the heart of a human patient by applying an external force on a first position of the heart muscle following the heart's contractions. The implantable device comprising a first pump device adapted to assist the pump function of the heart. The pump device comprises a first reservoir having a first volume and adapted to varying said first volume, a second reservoir having a second volume and adapted to varying said second volume, a fluid connection adapted to fluidly connect said first reservoir with said second reservoir, such that fluid can flow between said first reservoir and said second reservoir. The reservoir, said second reservoir and said fluid connection form a fully implantable pump device adapted to maintain a fluid in a closed system, when in operation and wherein said fully implantable pump device is adapted to transfer force by transferring fluid from said first reservoir to said second reservoir to directly or indirectly apply an external force on the first position of the heart muscle, following the heart's contractions, for improving the pump function of the heart, when said device is implanted. The implantable device further comprises a sensor sensing muscle contractions of the heart.

ACTUATOR SYSTEM WITH VIRTUAL AND PHYSICAL PORTIONS
An actuation system includes a virtual or computer-modeled portion that is coupled to a physical portion. The virtual portion is a computer model that models or otherwise simulates a function or action, such as a physiological function or action, including for example an action potential, a calcium transient, and/or a chemical reaction. The computer model may model or simulate a chemical action, a mechanical action (such as movement of a wing) or any other action. The virtual portion drives or controls one or more physical actuators, which can be sized on a microscopic scale, such as on a nanometer scale. The actuation system can be used as or part of an artificial anatomical structure or organ, such as an artificial heart.

Vessel compression with hemodynamic wave reflection to control vascular wave dynamics and enhance blood flow
A system configured to be at least partially implanted along an aorta includes an inelastic, static member and a pinching member. The pinching member is configured to receive an activation signal at an activation rate and in response to the activation signal, repeatedly compress the aorta at the second location at the activation rate to pump fluid within the aorta in a desired pumping direction. The system is configured to selectively control wave reflections in order to achieve both improved wave dynamics to reduce cardiac load and increased (or at least non-diminished) blood flow to targeted organs within the cardiovascular system.
