Provided is a chuck structure, which is configured to chuck an annular workpiece from a radially outer side of the workpiece. The chuck structure includes: leaf spring members arranged at a predetermined pitch along a circumferential direction of the chuck structure so as to be symmetrical with respect to a mechanism center axis; chuck claw members mounted to distal ends of the leaf spring members, respectively; and a pressing force applying mechanism configured to apply a force of pressing the leaf spring members radially inward, to thereby elastically press the chuck claw members onto a radially outer surface of the workpiece.

Tool holder assemblies and methods of using the same

In one aspect tool holder assemblies are described herein. Such tool holder assemblies can employ outer and inner spring-like members. For example, a tool holder assembly described herein comprises a drawbar having an outer diameter surface and an inner diameter surface defining an interior of the drawbar. The drawbar is movable or actuatable along a longitudinal axis between a locked position and an unlocked position. The tool holder assembly can further comprise a first spring-like member positioned around the outer diameter surface of the drawbar and a second spring-like member positioned in the drawbar interior.

System for releasable coupling of a hole saw to a drill arbor
10150169 · 2018-12-11 · ·

A system is disclosed for releasable coupling of a hole saw to a drill arbor. The system includes an elongate drill arbor configured at a first end to be clamped in a drill chuck of a drill, and a hole saw adapter provided with a longitudinal bore in which the drill arbor can be received so that an inner surface of the longitudinal bore of the hole saw adapter is mounted slidably on an outer surface of the drill arbor in the longitudinal direction of the drill arbor. The drill arbor includes an actuator member and at least one retaining element co-acting therewith. The inner surface of the longitudinal bore of the hole saw adapter is provided with a recess into which the retaining element of the drill arbor can protrude.

Cam bolts and tool coupling systems employing the same

In one aspect, cam bolts are described herein employing a dual cam surface architecture. In some embodiments, a cam bolt described herein defines a longitudinal axis and comprises a first end, a second end, at least one engagement member disposed on at least one of the first end and the second end, at least two first cam surfaces, and at least one second cam surface. The engagement member is configured to engage a torque implement to rotate the cam bolt about the longitudinal axis when torque is applied by the torque implement. The first cam surfaces are disposed about the longitudinal axis and have a first cam profile. The second cam surface is disposed about the longitudinal axis between the first cam surfaces and has a second cam profile differing from the first cam profile. At least one of the first and second cam profiles can be non-circular.

Some embodiments are directed to a fixing apparatus that includes a threaded adaptor, an arbor having a flange portion and a shaft portion, and a draw cylinder disposed such that rotation of the threaded adaptor moves the draw cylinder in axially upward and downward directions. A collet can be disposed around a periphery of the arbor so as to be coaxial with the draw cylinder, such that movement of the draw cylinder in the axially downward direction causes the draw cylinder to contact the collet and thereby cause the collet to also move in the axially downward direction. The collet can include axially extending channels that define fingers therebetween and interior coaxial surfaces that are configured to communicate with exterior coaxial surfaces of the arbor such that axially downward movement of the collet moves the fingers in a radially outward direction to thereby increase an exterior diameter of the collet.
