Welding of transparent material in electronic devices. An electronic device may include an enclosure having at least one aperture formed through a portion of the enclosure. The electronic device may also include a component positioned within the aperture formed through the portion of the enclosure. The component may be laser welded to the aperture formed through the enclosure. Additionally, the component may include transparent material. A method for securing a component within an electronic device may include providing an electronic device enclosure including at least one aperture, and positioning a component within the aperture formed through the enclosure. The component positioned within the aperture may include a transparent material. The method may also include welding the component to the electronic device enclosure.

HIGH ELONGATION RIDGE VENTILATION SHEET FOR SLOPING ROOF AND FABRICATING METHOD THEREFOR
20170284101 · 2017-10-05 ·

A high elongation ridge ventilation sheet for a sloping roof, having a coated composite aluminum membrane with multiple circular holes, each side of the coated composite aluminum membrane being bonded respectively with a folded composite aluminum membrane via a butyl adhesive tape for central linking, on a side of each folded composite aluminum membrane adjacent the coated composite aluminum membrane is arranged with a hot melt adhesive for connecting a polyester nonwoven fabric with each folded composite aluminum membrane, with the polyester nonwoven fabric covering the whole coated composite aluminum membrane. Further, a fabricating method therefor that realizes wholly dry construction; ridge ventilation sheets adopted on ridge locations not only make the whole roof prettier, but more importantly, enable air convection under the roof in a true sense, taking out extra dampness and heat, resulting in better energy saving effects, and extending life span for the roof.

Method of making absorbent foam composites

A method of making absorbent foam composites and absorbent foam composites produced therefrom. The method comprises casting an absorbent foam layer having a first side and a second side opposite the first side onto a barrier layer having a first side and second side opposite the first side, where the second side of the absorbent foam layer is in contact with the first side of the barrier layer; joining a second absorbent layer to the second side of the barrier layer before, during, or after the casting step; and breaching the barrier layer after the casting step so that the foam layer and second absorbent layer are in fluid communication. The absorbent foam composites can be used in a variety of applications, including personal hygiene articles, medical bandages, pet pads and agricultural pads.

Apertured outer cover for absorbent articles

An outer cover for an absorbent article includes a nonwoven component having a plurality of apertures formed therein and a film bonded to the apertured nonwoven component. The apertures in the nonwoven component are formed by needling prior to the film being bonded to the nonwoven component. A method of making the outer cover includes feeding a web of nonwoven material to a needling station, needling the web of nonwoven material to form a plurality of apertures therein to define an apertured web of nonwoven material, and bonding the apertured web of nonwoven material to a film.

Insulated radiant barriers in apparel

Fabrics made for apparel, tents, sleeping bags and the like, in various composites, constructed such that a combination of substrate layers and insulation layers is configured to provide improved thermal insulation. The fabric composites are constructed to form a radiant barrier against heat loss via radiation and via conduction from a body.

Concrete curing blanket

A concrete curing blanket includes an absorbent sheet having a wicking layer, super absorbent materials, and a tissue layer, which are laminated together to form the absorbent sheet. The absorbent sheet is sized for being spread over a curing concrete slab. A vapor barrier is bonded to the tissue layer of the absorbent sheet to inhibit evaporation from the concrete curing blanket, and includes a plurality of perforations.

Shockwave Controlled Ballistic Protection

A transparent composite armor is made of tens to hundreds or even thousands of thin layers of material each with a thickness of 10-500 μm. An appropriate amount of impedance mismatch between the layers causes some reflection at each interface but limit the amplitude of the resulting tensile wave below the tensile strength of the constituent materials. The result is an improvement in ballistic performance and that will result is a significant impact in reducing size, weight, and volume of the armor.

Bead-stiffened composite parts

A beaded composite panel is fabricated using composite plies. An opening is formed in each of plies, and each ply is laid up on a bead feature and drawn down over the bead feature in the area of the opening so as to widen the opening into a gap allowing the ply to conform to the contour of the bead feature. Patches are fabricated and placed on the plies overlying over the openings. The laid-up plies are compacted and cured.
