10543528 · 2020-01-28 · ·

A system and method of forming a wear resistant composite material includes placing a porous wear resistant filler material in a mold cavity and infiltrating the filler material with a matrix material by heating to a temperature sufficient to melt the matrix material, then cooling the assembly to form a wear resistant composite material. The system and method can be used to form the wear resistant composite material on the surface of a substrate, such as a part for excavating equipment or other mechanical part. One suitable matrix material may be any of a variety of ductile iron alloys.

Systems and processes for joining workpieces robustly using moguls and adhesive

An adhesive-bonded component including a first workpiece having a first substrate and a first mating surface including a plurality of protrusions. The component also includes a second workpiece comprising a second substrate having a second mating surface contacting the first mating surface and adhesive positioned on the first mating surface. In various embodiments, the second mating surface comprises troughs receiving the protrusions of the first workpiece, and the plurality of protrusions of the first workpiece and the troughs of the second workpiece may be arranged in multiple mating patterns. The technology also includes processes of making the components.

Method of manufacturing an equine protective covering

An improved method of manufacturing an equine protective covering includes applying a stamp comprising a profiled shape with a predetermined temperature and pressure to the interior side of the cushion assembly such that concurrently: the first synthetic fabric layer and the second neoprene layer are permanently bonded; the second neoprene layer is plastically deformed such that the profiled shape of the stamp is permanently transferred to the second neoprene layer; and the plastic deformation of the second neoprene layer is such that the perforations remain open.

Device and method of anchoring a polymer to a substrate

A component for a bearing including a substrate having opposite major surfaces spaced apart by a thickness of the substrate, and a plurality of channels extending along the first surface, at least two of the plurality of channels extending in parallel with each other, wherein at least one of the plurality of channels is adapted to receive and secure a polymeric material to the substrate. A method of forming a bearing including providing a substrate having a opposite major surfaces spaced apart by a thickness, forming channels in the substrate, the channels each having a depth extending from the first major surface toward the second major surface, applying a polymeric material to at least a portion of the first major surface, wherein a portion of the polymeric material occupies at least a portion of at least one of the channels, and curing the polymeric material.

A coated panel for a gas turbine engine includes a panel having a panel inner surface and a pocket formed in the panel inner surface, the pocket having a pocket depth. A coating is applied to the pocket such that a coating edge is disposed within the pocket to enhance coating retention to the panel. A gas turbine engine includes a turbine, a combustor to supply hot combustion gases to the turbine along a gas path, and one or more coated panels located along the gas path. The one or more panels includes a panel having a panel inner surface, and a pocket formed in the panel inner surface, the pocket having a pocket depth. A coating is applied to the pocket such that a coating edge is located within the pocket to enhance coating retention to the panel.

PROTECTIVE CUSHION COVER FOR AN ELECTRONIC DEVICE

A protective case for an electronic device includes an elastomeric cover having a single piece of elastomeric material that conforms to the electronic device when the electronic device is installed in the protective case. The cover includes a button actuator to transfer a force applied on an outside surface of the elastomeric cover to a control button of the electronic device inside the elastomeric cover and a front opening in the elastomeric cover that provides access to a touch screen interface of a front of the electronic device. The cover also includes a plurality of recesses formed in at least one interior side surface of the elastomeric cover. The plurality of recesses soften the elastomeric cover in the selected area by reducing an average density of the elastomeric cover in the selected area of the elastomeric cover.
