The invention concerns a heat-sealable biodegradable packaging material, which comprises a fibrous substrate and one or more polymer coating layers extruded onto said substrate. According to the invention the packaging material includes at least one polymer coating layer containing polylactide and at least about 1 weight-% of terpene phenolic resin blended therewith. The invention further concerns a heat-sealed product package made from the packaging material, as well as uses of the resin as blends with polylactide in extrusion coating, for improving line speed and neck-in in extrusion, adhesivity of the coating to the fibrous substrate, and heat-sealability of the coating.

Hot melt adhesive

The present invention provides a hot melt adhesive for high-speed coating and spiral coating at low temperature. The hot melt adhesive has excellent adhesion to polyethylene and nonwoven fabric, and is suitable for disposable products. The hot melt adhesive comprises: (A) a propylene homopolymer having a melting point of 100 C. or lower which is obtainable by polymerizing propylene using a metallocene catalyst; and (B) an ethylene-based copolymer.

A sealing film suitable for food packaging is provided, which adopts the following solution. The present invention provides a polyester film suitable for use as a sealant, which not only has high heat sealing strength, but also is less liable to adsorb various organic compounds, and has a less shrinkage in heating and high tensile strength. Further, the present invention provides a laminate comprising at least one layer of the polyester film, and a packaging bag including the same. The polyester film which is formed with a polyester resin whose main constituent is ethylene terephthalate. The film has at least one heat sealing layer. The film has a predetermined heat sealing strength, a predetermined difference in reversing heat capacity measured with a temperature modulated DSC, and a predetermined heat shrinkage. Further, the laminate comprises at least one layer of the polyester film, and the packaging bag includes the same.
