READY-TO-USE URINARY CATHETER ASSEMBLY
Catheter assemblies including a catheter and a liquid.
Ureteral and bladder catheters and methods of inducing negative pressure to increase renal perfusion
Ureteral catheters and assemblies are provided including: a drainage lumen including a proximal portion configured to be positioned in at least a portion of a patient's urethra and a distal portion configured to be positioned in a patient's ureter and/or kidney, the distal portion including a coiled retention portion including at least a first coil having a first diameter and a second coil having a second diameter, the first diameter being less than the second diameter; or wherein the retention portion extends radially outwardly from a portion of the distal end of the drainage lumen portion, the retention portion including a proximal end having a first diameter, a distal end having a second diameter, and a wall and/or surface extending therebetween, the retention portion having a second diameter is greater than the first diameter when deployed; or wherein the retention portion includes a plurality of drainage tubes.
Urethral catheters and methods for facilitated introduction into the urinary tract
Embodiments of the invention provide apparatus, systems and methods for facilitating introduction of a urinary drainage catheter (UDC) into the urinary tract (UT). One embodiment provides a UDC including electrodes for delivering high frequency current to a patient's pudendal nerves to relax the urinary sphincter (US) before passing the UDC therethrough so as reduce the resistance force on the UDC and discomfort to the patient. The electrodes can comprise at least one pair of bipolar electrodes and may be flexible so as to bend and flex within the urethra. The UDC includes one or more lumens including a drainage lumen and an inflation lumen for inflating an anchoring device on the UDC. The UDC can include a pressure sensor to assess relaxation of the US. The UDC may include a second set of electrodes and irrigation lumen for relaxing the US and flushing the urethra with the UDC in place.
Apparatus and a method for the treatment of a prostatic disease
Treatments for prostatic disease use a urethral catheter with ports positioned outside a patient. The catheter's lumen has a cross-sectional shape and an electrode assembly with a shaft having a corresponding cross-sectional shape that interlocks with the shape of the lumen. The shaft includes a plurality of shaft channels, an extendable electrode in each channel, and a collar with a protruding flange that interfaces with a port when the electrode assembly is within the lumen. An electrode actuator controls actuation of the electrodes. The collar and actuator are interfaced via a keyed structure. A plurality of ports in the assembly interface with the lumen and project the electrodes outward through the catheter and into the prostate when actuated. The electrodes are extended in a predefined rotational orientation relative to the keyed structure. A power source is coupled to the electrodes and delivers direct current to the prostate.
METHODS OF URGING A CATHETER FROM A CLOSED URINARY CATHETER SYSTEM
A sterile closed intermittent urinary catheter system which is an easier to use by virtue of ergonomic shaping to facilitate advancement and retrieval of the catheter from the collection bag. The bag may have a closed internal hole adjacent an indent in one edge that creates a narrow channel through which the catheter passes. The narrow channel is located near to and in alignment with an outlet assembly so that the catheter extends from the narrow channel directly to the outlet. A user may easily grasp the catheter from outside the bag at the narrow channel and urge the catheter forward or backward to alternately extend and retract it through the outlet. A flexible pusher sleeve with gripper features may be added around the narrow channel to further facilitate catheter advancement.
Ready-to-use urinary catheter assembly
A catheter assembly (10) comprising: a hydrophilic urinary catheter (16) having a catheter shaft including a proximal insertion end portion (22) and a distal end portion (24) having a drainage member (26), a collapsible sleeve (12) defining a compartment (14) that contains a portion of the catheter shaft, a distal end portion (32) of the sleeve (12) being attached to the distal end portion (24) of the urinary catheter (16); an amount of liquid (20) located within the compartment (14); an introducer (28) located at a proximal end portion (30) of the sleeve (12), the introducer (28) including a passageway therethrough and a proximal opening for passage of the catheter shaft therethrough; and a removable cap (46) covering the introducer (28) wherein the cap (46) includes an anti-leak element.
URINARY CATHETER AND METHOD OF CATHETERISING A BLADDER USING AN ACTIVELY DEFLECTABLE URETHRAL CATHETER AND A DEFLECTION MECHANISM
A urinary catheter with deflectable tip, comprising a hollow catheter body configured to be inserted within the urethra of a patient, the catheter body having an elongate portion, a tip portion near a distal end of the elongate portion and an engagement portion spaced from the distal end where a user can grasp the catheter, the tip portion being deflectable for the purpose of steering the catheter within the urethra to allow the catheter to follow a natural curvature of the urethra, the tip portion being movable from a generally straight condition to a deflected condition wherein deflection of the tip portion occurs while the elongate portion remains generally straight.
Closed system with intermittent urinary catheter feed
URINARY CATHETER ASSEMBLY
A condom-catheter system includes a condom-catheter with a tube extending to a collection bag. A rotary junction is disposed between the tube that is connected to the condom-catheter and the tube that is connected to the collection bag.
INFLATABLE MEDICAL IMPLANT HAVING A PRESSURE MONITOR
According to an aspect, an apparatus includes a bodily implant configured to be implanted into a body of a patient, the implant including an inflatable member and a sending unit, the sending unit having a sensor configured to sense the pressure of the inflation member; and a reading unit, the reading unit configured to be disposed outside of the body of the patient and configured to operatively communicate with the sending unit.
