20200306555 · 2020-10-01 ·

The present invention provides an apparatus and method for self-tanning or light therapy treatment at home using a device capable of emitting ultraviolet radiation to achieve a tan on the user's body. The invention can also be configured for use in light therapy applications. A complete tan is achieved by lying on a flat surface underneath the apparatus emitting ultraviolet radiation and controlling forward and backward movement of the apparatus along a flat surface by either manually sliding the apparatus along the body or by means of a motorized drive system to focus the ultraviolet radiation on different parts of the body.

A system and method for a whole-body immersion bed or cabinet that permits the user to experience the therapy on their entire body at the same time. The therapy in its most basic form is a combination light, and sound therapy. Each therapy session includes a set of resonant frequencies and a set of beneficial light wavelengths applied to the user at the same time. The resonant frequencies are applied through specific pulses that are chosen based upon the condition that the therapy is attempting to treat. Additionally, the resonant frequencies may be applied through a frequency pulse generator. The frequency pulse generator is set to a pre-established set of frequencies that have been shown to be effective for treating each particular condition.

A heating system includes a sensing and tracking module to sense length in at least one dimension of an object to-be-heated in a previously determined area. A light source module has at least one light source that can change its lighting direction and can also change its beam angle e along the at least one dimension. A control module is provided for regulating light emitted by the light source module onto the to-be heated object along the at least one dimension to match with the length of the to-be-heated object based on the length sensed by the sensing and tracking module. The heating system described above and a bed incorporated having this kind of heating system may automatically adjust its output power according to the physical characteristics of the object to-be-heated to avoid heating unrelated object, area or space so as to ensure high energy efficiency.

Systems and methods for determining one or more temperatures within a phototherapy blanket use or include one or more temperature sensors and a set of light sources to determine a temperature of a subject undergoing phototherapy within the phototherapy blanket and estimate a core temperature of the subject based on, at least, the temperature. The phototherapy blanket may include a thicker region having a higher thermal insulation than one or more other regions of the phototherapy blanket. By virtue of measuring the temperature at or near the thicker region, the uncertainty in the relation between a temperature and the subject's core temperature may be reduced, for more accurate temperature determination within the phototherapy blanket.

PHOTOTHERAPEUTIC SYSTEMS INCLUDING SPREADING AND COLLIMATING FEATURES AND RELATED TECHNOLOGY

A phototherapeutic system in accordance with an embodiment of the present technology includes a housing at least partially defining an irradiation zone configured to accommodate at least a portion of a human subject. The system further comprises an ultraviolet (UV) radiation source configured to direct UV radiation along a radiation path extending from the radiation source to the irradiation zone. The radiation source includes a concentrated source at which UV radiation is generated, and a collimating reflector (or lens) configured to reflect (or refract) the UV radiation and thereby increase collimation of the UV radiation. The system still further comprises a filter, a spreader, and a collimator disposed successively farther downstream from the radiation source along the radiation path. The spreader and the collimator respectively decrease and increase collimation of the UV radiation before the UV radiation reaches the subject.
