Radiotherapy Template Assembly
A method of inserting brachytherapy seeds into a body organ includes grasping a body organ between a frame defining a large central hole and an additional element. A grid defining a plurality of apertures adapted to receive elongate applicators is placed on one side of the body organ. A plurality of applicators are passed through apertures in the first and second grids and through the body organ. The brachytherapy seeds are anchored in the organ through the frame.
Brachytherapy fiducial needle fixation system
A mechanism facilitates the insertion of radioactive sources/source strands into soft tissue, such as breast tissue, that improves the reproducibility of the procedure and ensures that the sources are reliably and consistently inserted in an exact position per a patient prescription treatment plan from patient to patient as well as improve the ease-of-use of the device and procedure.
Brachytherapy fiducial needle fixation system and method
A mechanism to facilitate the insertion of radioactive sources/source strands into soft tissue, such as breast tissue, and a method that utilizes this mechanism with the goal of improving the reproducibility of the procedure and ensuring that the sources are reliably and consistently inserted in an exact position per a patient prescription treatment plan from patient to patient as well as improve the ease-of-use of the device and procedure are provided.
DELIVERY SYSTEM FOR INTENSITY MODULATED HIGH DOSE RATE BRACHYTHERAPY WITH INTERMEDIATE ENERGY BRACHYTHERAPY ISOTOPES
A delivery system and method for radiation shielded brachytherapy comprises a drive assembly, and a plurality of shield assemblies, pivotally mounted to the drive assembly, each having a tubular body defining an outer surface and a bore longitudinally extending between opposite ends of the tubular body. Each of the shield assemblies comprises radiation shielding material extending about a circumferential portion of the tubular body and disposed between the outer surface and the cavity. An interlocking system is operatively mounted to the rotating assembly, and engages a group of the plurality of shield assemblies. The interlocking system is configured for transmitting a rotational input received from a driving mechanism to the group of shield assemblies, for synchronously rotating each shield assembly of the group about their respective longitudinal axis.
Neutron capture therapy system comprising a beam shaping assembly configured to shape a neutron beam
The present disclosure provides a neutron capture therapy system, including an accelerator for generating a charged particle beam, a neutron generator for generating a neutron beam having neutrons after irradiation by the charged particle beam, and a beam shaping assembly for shaping the neutron beam. The beam shaping assembly includes a moderator and a reflecting assembly surrounding the moderator. The neutron generator generates the neutrons after irradiation by the charged particle beam. The moderator moderates the neutrons generated by the neutron generator to a preset energy spectrum. The reflecting assembly includes a reflecting assembly to deflected neutrons back to the neutron beam and a supporting member to support the reflectors. A lead-antimony alloy is for the reflecting assembly to mitigate a creep effect that occurs when only a lead material is for the reflectors, thereby improving the structural strength of a beam shaping assembly.
AUTOMATED BRACHYTHERAPY WITH ROBOTICS AND/OR IMAGE GUIDANCE
An automated brachytherapy apparatus and method include robotics and/or image guided brachytherapy.
Grid calibration system for interventional procedures
A grid calibration system employing interventional equipment including one or more interventional tools (23), a grid (22) having a hole matrix for supporting and guiding the interventional tool(s) (23) within a calibration area, and an imaging device (24) positioned relative to the grid (22) for generating a tool image illustrative of the interventional tool(s) (23) within the calibration area. The grid calibration system further employs a grid calibration workstation (40) for displaying any alignment adjustments to the relative positioning of the grid (22) and the imaging device (24) as derived from an image registration of the tool image and a virtual grid having a point matrix representative of the hole matrix of the grid.
Devices and methods for treatment of cancers
Devices and methods for brachytherapy treatment are disclosed. One aspect is a poly(methyl methacrylate) apparatus for brachytherapy treatment at the vaginal apex. Another aspect is a poly(methyl methacrylate) apparatus for brachytherapy treatment in the distal two-thirds of the vagina. Another aspect is a poly(methyl methacrylate) apparatus for brachytherapy treatment of cancers that are offset from the vaginal apex. Other aspects include methods for guiding needles for treatment of cancers at the vaginal apex, in the distal two-thirds of the vagina, and that are offset from the vaginal apex.
Method for identifying the location of at least one treatment channel from a group of a plurality of treatment channels as well as a system for effecting radiation treatment on a pre-selected anatomical portion of an animal body
The invention relates to a method for identifying the location at least one treatment channel from a group of a plurality of treatment channels as wells as a system for effecting radiation treatment on a pre-selected anatomical portion of an animal body. According to the invention the identifying method being characterized by the steps of A selecting at least one of said plurality of treatment channels; B reconstructing the actual location of said selected treatment channel relative to said animal body; and C comparing said reconstructed location said pre-planned plurality of locations. Furthermore the system according to the invention is characterized in that identifying means are present for identifying the location of at least one treatment channel from said group of said plurality of inserted treatment channels and comparing said identified location with one or more of said pre-planned locations present in said treatment plan.
A ROTATING SHIELD BRACHYTHERAPY SYSTEM
An apparatus and method for using rotating shield brachytherapy (RSBT). In an aspect, the RSBT system and method can be used to maintain or increase tumor dose relative to conventional techniques with a dramatic reduction in radiation dose to the urethra, rectum, and bladder in the treatment of prostate cancer through placing partially shielded radiation sources away from sensitive tissues. In an aspect, the invention is an apparatus and method for the precise angular and linear positioning of multiple partially-shielded radiation sources in interstitial needles. In a further aspect, the invention comprises a monitoring and control apparatus for the precise and simultaneous angular positioning of multiple shield-containing catheters in the RBST system by measuring and correcting deviations between actual and desired catheter angular positions and depth in real time before and during treatment delivery.
