UTERINE CERVICAL CANCER RADIOTHERAPY SUPPORT SYSTEM, UTERINE CERVICAL CANCER RADIOTHERAPY SUPPORT METHOD, AND NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER-READABLE RECORDING MEDIUM STORING UTERINE CERVICAL CANCER RADIOTHERAPY SUPPORT PROGRAM
Uterine cervical cancer radiotherapy support system for supporting combined intracavitary and interstitial brachytherapy for uterine cervical cancer includes support information obtaining means for obtaining patient support information to include base point serving as coordinate system base when capturing the patient's image before combined intracavitary and interstitial brachytherapy is performed, support information being at least any of the patient's image, drawn outline of tumor, drawn outline of organ surrounding tumor, drawn outline of needle insertion region, coordinates of center of gravity of needle insertion region, and dose distribution, and mixed reality displaying means for introducing virtual base point corresponding to base point and patient support information into virtual world, creating three-dimensional model of the patient, and displaying the three-dimensional model of the patient by overlaying it on the patient by matching the base point with the virtual base point with each other.
Radiation shields for brachytherapy
A shield assembly for an intensity modulated brachytherapy (IMBT) system, has: a tubular applicator engageable to a rotating mechanism of the IMBT system, the tubular applicator having a peripheral wall enclosing an internal cavity extending longitudinally along a central axis; a radiation shield extending axially along the central axis and received within the internal cavity, the radiation shield made of an MRI-compatible and radiation attenuating material; and a radionuclide-receiving passage within the internal cavity of the tubular applicator, the radionuclide-receiving passage extending axially and being radially offset from the central axis.
Wearable inserter for reproducable alignment of bodily tissue for programme of external radiotherapy treatment
Positioning tool (200) for assisting treatment of a subject in an external radiotherapy programme comprising one or more external radiotherapy treatment sessions comprising: an inserter (204) having a proximal (40) and distal (20) end which inserter comprises: an elongated member (210) configured for insertion through an entrance to a canal (602) in connection with bodily tissue (610) of the subject, and provided with an elongated member lumen (214) configured for receiving an effector shaft (310) of a steering guide (300); and a guiding strand (218) for guiding the effector shaft (310) into the lumen (214) from outside the entrance to the canal, wherein the guiding strand (218) is disposed at least partially within the lumen (214) and is restrained at or towards a distal end (20) of the guiding strand (218) to limit or prevent sliding of the guiding strand (218) in a proximal direction relative to the lumen (214), wherein the positioning tool (200) is configured to move and/or fix the canal (602) and the bodily tissue (610) of the subject relative to an ionising radiotherapy beam for the external radiotherapy treatment session.
BRACHYTHERAPY DEVICE
A brachytherapy device including a primary guide, a telescoping primary applicator, a locator assembly for fixing the primary guide and the telescoping applicator, and a control system for managing the different components of the device is described. The primary applicator can be adjusted based on patient anatomy. The locator assembly includes a secondary applicator and a secondary guide connected to an expandable structure that can be inflated after insertion into the patient.
Pulsating brachytherapy method and system
A method for treating a tumor excise site defined by a center and edges is described. The method includes simultaneously exposing the tumor site to radiation and pulsating heat. Also described is a device for treating tumors at a target site. The device includes a first balloon containing a radio isotope and a second balloon encasing the first balloon. The second balloon defines structures to create a void between the first balloon and the second balloon such that pulsing, temperature treated fluid traverses the void.
Universally friendly obturator (UFO) for brachytherapy treatment of cervical cancer
The present invention provides a brachytherapy applicator device having: an elongate body defining a plurality of brachytherapy needle channels, each adapted and configured to receive a brachytherapy needle; a proximal end defining a plurality of proximal openings, each in communication with one of the plurality of brachytherapy needle channels; and a distal end defining a plurality of distal openings, each in communication with one of the plurality of brachytherapy needle channels, wherein at least some of the plurality of brachytherapy needle channels are curved away from a central axis of the elongate body at the distal end such that a brachytherapy needle inserted therethrough will engage with tissue lateral to a cross-sectional profile of the distal end of the elongate body.
