INTEGRATED STRONTIUM-RUBIDIUM RADIOISOTOPE INFUSION SYSTEMS
Methods for setting up, maintaining and operating a radiopharmaceutical infusion system, that includes a radioisotope generator, are facilitated by a computer of the system. The computer may include pre-programmed instructions and a computer interface, for interaction with a user of the system, for example, in order to track contained volumes of eluant and/or eluate, and/or to track time from completion of an elution performed by the system, and/or to calculate one or more system and/or injection parameters for quality control, and/or to perform purges of the system, and/or to facilitate diagnostic imaging.
Minimally invasive systems with expandable supports for hemostasis in a bleeding closed tissue volume
Disclosed herein are improved methods and apparatuses for providing hemostasis within a cavity defined by an internal surface of a bleeding tissue space. A catheter comprising a proximal end and a distal end may be advanced into the cavity through a proximal opening of the tissue space into the cavity. A distal balloon coupled to the catheter may be positioned adjacent a distal opening of the tissue space, and expanded to seal the distal opening. A hemostatic agent may be applied from the catheter to the internal surface of the tissue space to inhibit bleeding of the tissue space. The hemostatic agent may be applied without occluding the proximal opening, the distal opening, and a path extending therebetween with the hemostatic agent.
ENGINEERED RADIOACTIVE POLYMERIC MICROSPHERE, AND PREPARATION AND APPLICATION THEREOF
An engineered radioactive polymeric microsphere, and a preparation and application thereof. The preparation method includes: adding a styrene monomer and a disperser and/or a crosslinker into a medium, followed by feeding of nitrogen or helium and stirring to obtain a first reaction mixture; heating the first reaction mixture, and adding an initiator, followed by reaction under stirring at a constant temperature to obtain a second reaction mixture; subjecting the second reaction mixture to washing with ethanol and water, and vacuum drying to obtain a crude polymeric microsphere; subjecting the crude polymeric microsphere to radiation-induced graft polymerization with a functional monomer to obtain the functionalized polymeric microsphere; and exposing the functionalized polymeric microsphere to a radionuclide to prepare the engineered radioactive polymeric microsphere.
Multi-purpose balloon catheter for intra cavity radiation delivery
A multi-purpose balloon intra-cavity catheter includes a catheter having a proximal end portion, a central portion and a non-branching distal end portion, a plurality of lumens associated with the catheter extending from the proximal end portion, and a plurality of inflatable balloons positioned in the central portion and/or the non-branching distal end portion. Each of the plurality of inflatable balloons is communicatively associated with a corresponding one of the plurality of lumens, the plurality of inflatable balloons being selectively inflated or deflated to position and stabilize the catheter in a cavity for delivery of a medical treatment. The catheter can include an extraction opening associated with a lumen to remove fluids and materials from the cavity, and a connector associated with a corresponding lumen adapted to selectively receive one or more of a fluid medium or a radioactive isotope provided to a corresponding lumen for delivery of the medical treatment.
Compositions, devices and kits for selective internal radiation therapy
Systems, kits and methods for preparing an injection system and/or treating target lesions with a selective internal radiation therapy which includes a double-barrel syringe loaded with a two-component tissue glue and radioisotope loaded microspheres. The microspheres are loaded into the syringe based on the size of the target location and are administered with a needle or dual-lumen catheter. Dosing regimens for treating breast cancer lesions or surgical beds up to 130 mm in diameter and hepatocellular carcinoma lesions up to 50 mm are included.
BLOOD TREATMENT SYSTEM HAVING BACKFLOW PREVENTION
A medical fluid pumping system includes a medical fluid pump for pumping a process fluid, the medical fluid pump including a first pump chamber, a first inlet valve chamber including a first inlet valve diaphragm, a first outlet valve chamber, a second pump chamber, a second inlet valve chamber including a second inlet valve diaphragm, and a second outlet valve chamber; and a medical fluid chassis operable with the medical fluid pump, the medical fluid chassis including a motive fluid source providing motive fluid at a motive fluid pressure, and wherein the first and second inlet valve diaphragms are configured to actuate from an open to a closed position at a pressure less than the motive fluid pressure to mitigate process fluid backflow through the first and second inlet valves.
Microsphere and preparation method thereof
Provided is a microsphere including a glass sphere core. The glass sphere core includes a first nuclide, a second nuclide and a diffusion region extending inwardly from an outer surface of the glass sphere core, with the second nuclide distributed in the diffusion region. The first nuclide and the second nuclide become radioactive after being activated by neutrons to produce radiations including β-rays or γ-rays, or simultaneously β-rays and γ-rays. A preparation method of a microsphere is also provided.
Fluidized brachytherapy system and method
The invention describes method for delivering and positioning radio-isotopes. The method uses encapsulating free flowing medicament into a leak proof vehicle and positioning the vehicle into the body. Also provided is a system for delivering and positioning radio-isotopes into the body, the system comprising fluid radio-isotope encapsulated in a leak proof material and/or absorbable material.
Blood treatment system having pulsatile blood intake
A blood treatment system includes (i) a blood pump including a first blood pump chamber operable with a first inlet valve and a first outlet valve, and a second blood pump chamber operable with a second inlet valve and a second outlet valve; (ii) an arterial blood line; (iii) a dialyzer placed in fluid communication with the arterial blood line, wherein the blood pump is provided along the arterial blood line upstream of the dialyzer; and (iv) a venous blood line extending downstream from the dialyzer. The system also includes a processor configured to sequence the first and second blood pump chambers so as to achieve a pulsatile pattern of filling the first and second blood pump chambers and an at least substantially constant pattern of discharging blood from the first and second blood pump chambers to the dialyzer.
