Device for percutaneous interstitial brachytherapy
A portable device for insertion of radioactive seeds in percutaneous interstitial brachytherapy applications is described. The device includes: an elongated main body in form of a handpiece; a shielded container of radioactive seeds, received within the main body and having a rotating drum suitable, in use, to release one or more radioactive seeds from the container; means for driving the rotating drum, activatable by an operator and based on lever mechanisms and gears; and means for introducing one or more radioactive seeds in a body site of interest, comprising a substantially wire-shaped pusher. The pusher urges the radioactive seed(s) released from the rotating drum through a cannula unit.
Automatic estimation of positions of brachytherapy seeds
A system includes a memory, configured to store program instructions, and a processor. The processor is configured to load the program instructions from the memory, and by executing the program instructions, to process a three-dimensional image of a portion of a body of a subject in which multiple brachytherapy to identify clusters of voxels of the image corresponding to the seed groups, respectively, to compute respective estimated positions of the brachytherapy seeds based on respective dimensions of each of the clusters, and to store or communicate the estimated positions for use in computing an effective dose of the brachytherapy seeds. Other embodiments are also described.
Radioactive implant planning system and placement guide system
An implant planning system aids delivery of radiation to tumor sites of a patient. The system allows a user to test various combinations of virtual implants, each associated with a corresponding physical implant (e.g., a carrier with an embedded radioactive seed), and to view the dosage area of the virtual implants so that adjustments to the virtual implants may be made until a prescribed dose of radiation to a treatment area is achieved. A treatment plan developed based on the virtual implants may then be used in surgical implantation of the corresponding physical implants. For example, the implant configuration of the treatment plan may be projected onto a treatment surface of a patient, such as in a surgical room, so that physical implants may be placed according to the projected image of the virtual implants.
Multi-purpose catheter for brachytherapy and intratumoral injection
A single treatment catheter is provided for delivery of brachytherapy radiation in combination with intratumoral injection into tumor tissue with a single skin and tumor insertion site. The catheter also enables precise delivery of anti-cancer agents, such as immunotherapy or other medical substances, to specific locations within the tumor with radiographic confirmation of the injection delivery area and location.
RADIOACTIVE STENT
This disclosure provides design, material, preparation methods, and use alternatives for medical devices. An example method of preparing a stent comprises applying a coating to a portion of the stent at a medical treatment facility, the coating including a plurality of radioactive elements and a substrate. The plurality of radioactive elements are mixed with the substrate to form a mixture such that the plurality of radioactive elements are dispersed within the substrate prior to the coating being applied on the stent.
LOCATOR FOR PLACEMENT OF FIDUCIAL SUPPORT DEVICE METHOD
A locator for the placement of a fiducial support device for brachytherapy may be used to perform a brachytherapy treatment in which one or more radioactive seeds are implanted into a treatment region of a patient.
TREATMENT SYSTEM FOR CANCER etc
[Summary]
[Problem]
The therapy method and the therapy apparatus for difficult cancer such as ductal cancer and other diseases.
[Solution to problem]
The therapy and the apparatus to beat cancer and other diseases by injecting the material which is energy receptive from outside and emissive heat to cancer cells in the body of a patient, and giving energy from outside.
INTRACAVITARY RADIOTHERAPY APPARATUS AND USE METHOD THEREOF
The present invention discloses an intracavitary radiotherapy apparatus, which is used for carrying radioactive particles or particle strips, comprising: a body that is formed by winding metal wires, and is a wire mesh having a hollow cavity penetrating through same in the forward and backward directions; and a radioactive particle groove that is provided on the outer surface of the body, is a cylindrical wire mesh having a hollow cavity penetrating through same in the forward and backward directions, and is used for accommodating the radioactive particles or particle strips. The radioactive particle groove comprises a plurality of groove bodies arranged in parallel, and the spacing between two adjacent groove bodies is less than the length of the radioactive particles or particle strips.
SYSTEM AND METHOD OF PERFORMING TREATMENT ALONG A LUMEN NETWORK
Disclosed are systems, devices, and methods for performing treatment along a lumen network, an exemplary method comprising receiving image data of a patient's lungs, mapping one or more luminal networks inside the patient's lungs based on the received image data, identifying a treatment target in the image data, determining a luminal pathway to the treatment target via at least one of the luminal networks, configuring treatment parameters for treatment of the treatment target and at least one of the luminal networks, navigating a tool inside at least one of the luminal networks to the treatment target, treating the treatment target with a primary treatment modality, and treating the luminal pathway of at least one of the luminal networks leading to or from the treatment target with a secondary treatment modality.
DOSIMETRICALLY CUSTOMIZABLE BRACHYTHERAPY CARRIERS AND METHODS THEREOF IN THE TREATMENT OF TUMORS
Brachytherapy radioisotope carrier systems and methodology for providing real-time customized brachytherapy treatment to subjects with tumors difficult to control using conventional radiation therapy techniques. The invention generally relates to devices, methods and kits for providing customized radionuclide treatments, to help cure, slow progression or regrowth, or ameliorate the symptoms associated with tumors.
