METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING TREATMENT DELIVERY USING REINFORCEMENT LEARNING

Methods and systems are provided which relate to the planning and delivery of radiation treatments by modalities which involve moving a radiation source along a trajectory relative to a subject while delivering radiation to the subject. An artificial intelligence (AI) agent trained using reinforcement learning (and/or some other suitable form of machine learning) is used to control the radiation delivery parameters in effort to achieve desired delivery of radiation therapy. In some embodiments, the AI agent selects suitable control steps (e.g. radiation delivery parameters for particular time steps), while accounting for patient motions, difference(s) in patient anatomical geometry and/or the like.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ADAPTIVE RADIATION THERAPY

The disclosure relates to a system and method for adapt a treatment plan. The method may include: obtaining an initial treatment plan of a region of interest, wherein the initial treatment plan includes a first initial treatment fraction and a second initial treatment fraction; causing a radiation treatment device to deliver the first initial treatment fraction; obtaining a treatment record related to the first initial treatment fraction; and generating an updated second treatment fraction based on the second initial treatment fraction and the treatment record.

Radiotherapy systems, methods and software

A photon therapy delivery system can deliver radiation therapy to a patient via a photon beam. The system can utilize a controller configured to facilitate delivery of radiation therapy via a photon beam and also a particle beam. This can include receiving radiation therapy beam information for radiation therapy treatment of a patient utilizing the particle beam and photon beam. Also, patient magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data can be received during the radiation therapy treatment. Utilizing the patient MRI data, real-time calculations of a location of dose deposition for the particle beam and for the photon beam can be determined taking into account interaction properties of soft tissues through which the particle beam passes.

Real-time X-ray dosimetry sensing in intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT). According to one aspect, a treatment head comprises at least one X-ray component configured to facilitate generation of therapeutic radiation in the X-ray wavelength range. A resilient balloon is disposed over the treatment head and configured for receiving therein a fluid to facilitate X-ray treatment of a tumor cavity. A plurality of X-ray sensing elements is disposed at a plurality of locations distributed on the interior or exterior of the resilient balloon and configured for sensing X-ray radiation emanating from the treatment head. A control system is provided that is responsive to data received from the X-ray sensing elements to determine a magnitude of X-ray radiation detected at each of the X-ray sensing elements.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR RECONSTRUCTING FLUENCE MAP

The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for reconstructing fluence map. The system may obtain a plurality of radiation tasks based on a radiotherapy plan. Each of the plurality of radiation tasks may include a radiation field corresponding to the radiation task. For each of the plurality of radiation tasks, the system may determine whether a shape change between a radiation field corresponding to the radiation task and a radiation field corresponding to a preceding radiation task exceeds a shape change threshold. The system may determine a fluence map corresponding to the radiation task based on a first determination result of whether the shape change between the radiation field corresponding to the radiation task and the radiation field corresponding to the preceding radiation task exceeds the shape change threshold.

Magnetic resonance (MR) guided radiation therapy (MRgRT) enables control over the delivery of radiation based on patient motion indicated by MR imaging (MRI) images captured during radiation delivery. A method for MRgRT includes: simultaneously using one or more radiation therapy heads to deliver radiation and an MRI system to perform MRI; using a processor to determine whether one or more gates are triggered based on at least a portion of MRI images captured during the delivery of radiation; and in response to determining that one or more gates are triggered based on at least a portion of the MRI images captured during the delivery of radiation, suspending the delivery of radiation.

Blood-tissue surface based radiosurgical renal treatment planning

Devices, systems, and methods for planning radiosurgical treatments for neuromodulating a portion of the renovascular system may be used to plan radiosurgical neuromodulation treatments for conditions or disease associated with elevated central sympathetic drive. The renal nerves may be located and targeted at the level of the ganglion and/or at postganglionic positions, as well as preganglionic positions. Target regions include the renal plexus, celiac ganglion, the superior mesenteric ganglion, the aorticorenal ganglion and the aortic plexus. Planning of radiosurgical treatments will optionally employ a graphical representation of a blood/tissue interface adjacent these targets.
