SPRINKLER SYSTEM FOR A MATERIALS DISPOSAL CHUTE AND A METHOD OF USING THE SAME

A sprinkler system for a temporary chute used for disposal of construction materials during a construction or renovation project. The sprinkler system is releasably engaged with the temporary chute and is used to control dust within the chute, wash down the chute, and extinguish fires. A housing of the sprinkler system is releasably engaged with an intake hopper of the chute, placing an interior chamber of the housing in fluid communication with the chutes' tunnel. First and second sprinkler heads are located within the interior chamber. The first sprinkler head is temperature sensitive and automatically actuated when a threshold temperature is crossed. The second sprinkler head is manually activated by an operator to spray liquid into the tunnel to control dust or wash the interior surfaces of the chute. The sprinkler system and temporary chute are disengaged from the building once the construction or renovation project is completed.

Non-frangible thermally responsive fluid control assemblies for automatic corrosion resistant sprinklers

Corrosion resistant sprinklers and methods thereof include a sprinkler frame body having an internal passageway with an inlet and an outlet; a fluid deflecting member spaced from the outlet and means for non-frangible thermal actuation fluid control after exposure to an extreme salt environment. Means include a seal assembly disposed in the outlet, a screw member engaged with the sprinkler frame and a link assembly in a supporting orientation with respect to the sealing assembly to maintain and control transfer of a sealing force of the screw member against the seal assembly in a corrosive environment. Methods of obtaining or providing a corrosion resistant sprinkler include exposing sprinklers to a salt spray for an exposure period of over ten days and maintaining seal integrity after the exposure period and subsequently operating each sprinkler in a bath test within 3.5% of a nominal temperature rating of the sprinkler.

FIRE PROTECTION SPRINKLER WITH A PUSH-IN CONNECTION

A fire protection sprinkler with a push-in connection includes a sprinkler body having an input orifice for receiving fluid and an output orifice for outputting the fluid, the body having a push-in connection at the input end and a base portion. The push-in connection is adapted to be connected to a pipe fitting by insertion and has a plurality of recesses, a first recess having a first gasket, a second recess having a second gasket, and a third recess having a retaining clip. A frangible element is held in place by a set screw and a stopper. The frangible element is designed to fail at a predetermined temperature to release the stopper. A deflector is positioned on the base portion and configured to direct the output fluid toward the output end, upon activation of the sprinkler by failure of the frangible element at the predetermined temperature.

Sprinkler assembly with button

A sprinkler includes a body defining (a) a passage having an inlet configured to be fluidly coupled to a source of fire suppressant fluid, (b) an outlet fluidly coupled to the passage, and (c) a compression pin aperture extending from an outer surface of the body to the passage and configured to receive a compression pin, a button received within the passage, and a seal engaging the button and the body to fluidly seal the inlet from the outlet. The compression pin aperture is positioned such that the compression pin engages the button to force the button against the seal when the compression pin is inserted into the compression pin aperture.
