Exercise device providing user defined pedal movements
An exercise device for performing a variety of movement patterns. The exercise device has a pair of linkages, each including an upper link pivotally mounted to a frame and a lower link pivotally coupled to an upper link. A foot support is provided on a distal end of each lower link. A compression link interconnects the lower link to the frame. The compression link includes a shaft coupled to the lower link, a sleeve coupled to the frame and a spring captured between the shaft and the sleeve, whereby the spring provides a resistance to movement of the lower link relative to the frame.
Rotational and linear resistance force exercise apparatus
An exercise apparatus with an adjustable rotating element around which a force transferring material wraps either clockwise or counterclockwise to provide bidirectional rotational resistance for exercising. The force transferring material is preferably guided to remain in close proximity to the rotating element while wrapping around the rotating element.
Dynamically variable radius cam for weight lifting apparatus
A variable radius cam mechanism is configured for use in a weight lifting apparatus. The variable radius cam mechanism includes a disk configured to rotate about an axis. The cam mechanism includes a cable guide coupled to the disk and defining a path for a cable and a radial tangent distance between the cable and the axis. The cam mechanism further includes one or more actuators coupled to the disk and the cable guide and configured to move the cable guide relative to the disk to change the radial tangent distance during rotation about the axis. The cam mechanism includes a controller programmed to operate the one or more actuators to cause the one or more actuators to move the cable guide to change the radial tangent distance thereby changing a force transferred through the cam mechanism.
Exercise device
An exercise machine is provided which is configured to place a user in an exercise position, wherein movement during exercise against a load will target the gluteus maximus muscles. The exercise machine positions the body of a user in a lowered or exercise position which supports the user while raising their body to an elevated position, in a manner to stabilize the user and direct movement of the user along the sagittal plane during use, while concurrently isolating the gluteus maximus muscles as the muscles overcoming the load.
Multi-joint exercise machine
The present invention relates to a machine providing a compound leg exercise known as a squat. The purpose of the invention is to provide rotational resistance to the muscles and joints in a compound exercise. The apparatus uses a cable connecting weights to a cam; the cam converts linear resistance to rotational resistance transferred to a driven gear, and then to a second axis and reversed by use of a drive gear meshed to the driven gear. Both gears are aligned to the joints involved in the exercise. Connected to the drive gear is a lever and footplate the user pushes against. The resulting resistance is perpendicular to the direction of force applied by the muscles and joints, while the feet move in a straight line. The present invention can be applied to compound exercises for the upper or lower body in a variety of different embodiments.
REPOSITIONING POINT OF ACTUATION FOR AN EXERCISE APPLIANCE
An exercise machine comprises an arm support, including: a carriage configured to slide within a track attached to the exercise machine; and a support assembly that floats the carriage relative to the track, wherein the support assembly is disengaged by the application of force via the arm. An exercise machine comprises a rotatable column, wherein the column supports an arm, and a gear detent mechanism to support a discrete number of positions for the rotatable column. An exercise machine comprises a tiltable arm, and a mechanism to support a discrete number of positions for the tiltable arm.
Workout machine
A workout machine adapted to be used with a smart device with built-in accelerometers and an app. It has a deck movable relative to its base and a lifting gear assembly operationally using a cable via a pulley to a lifting handle. A user location pivot arm is fixed to the deck, and a screen stand extends from the deck, where the user location pivot arm and screen stand are pivotably attached to a screen platform that can hold the smart device during a workout. The user's position on the deck can indicate the resistance of the exercise based on a percentage of the user's own weight as lifted with each repetition. The fulcrum concept combined with a user location feature allow an app of the smart device to support and analyze a workout.
EXERCISE APPARATUS
An exercise apparatus (5) comprising: a user input device (5i) mounted to a frame for movement in a first direction (6f) and for movement in a second direction (6o) that is generally opposite the first direction (6f), the user input device (5i) comprising a manually engageable device (5e) interconnected to a first fan (20) adapted to be rotatably driven to exert a first resistance (R1) on rotation in one direction and a second fan (22) adapted to be rotatably driven to exert a second resistance (R2) on rotation in one direction.
RESISTANCE CONTROL DEVICE
A resistance control device includes a resistance generating unit and a control unit. The resistance generating unit is adapted to be disposed proximate to an outer periphery of a flywheel, and includes a magnetic member having a pivotal end, and a free end that is adapted to be biased toward the flywheel, and a driven module disposed proximate to the free end of the magnetic member, and connected to the magnetic member. The control unit includes a cam rotatably operable to move the driven module such that, the magnetic member is driven to pivot toward or away from the flywheel. The cam is located between the driven member and a rotating axis of the flywheel so as to block the free end of the magnetic member from contact with the flywheel.
