The position of the umbrella can be changed with the use of a plurality of height-adjusting pockets. The stability of the umbrella can be maintained with an anchoring bracket which is positioned adjacent the holding bracket. Additionally, a retainer mechanism is also used to keep the umbrella stationary in the handsfree configuration. When not used, the umbrella is stored within a waterproof compartment of the backpack.
