The machine tool includes a workpiece carrier assembly arranged for horizontal movement in parallel to a horizontal axis and a tool carrier configured for carrying at least one tool for machining at least one workpiece by rotating the tool. Provided is a turning and milling system, comprising: a work platform comprising a first drive mechanism; a rotating platform, said first drive driving said rotating platform to rotate on the said work platform and drive a workpiece to rotate about a vertical axis; a blade assembly comprising a blade and a second drive mechanism connected to the blade; said second drive mechanism drives the blade to move in the horizontal direction, changing the machining radius of the blade.

A machine tool system includes: a machine tool that machines a workpiece by using a tool attached to a spindle; and a plurality of robots installed inside a machining space of the machine tool and adapted to grip the workpiece and move the workpiece in conformity with the machining performed by the machine tool.

A cutting apparatus includes: a machining mechanism on which a tool for machining a workpiece is mounted; a placement base that is disposed to face the machining mechanism in a machining space and that is movable in a first direction with the workpiece placed thereon; an open/close covering member that extends in the first direction thereby to contain therein the placement base and to form at least part of the machining space; and a drive mechanism that is isolated from the machining space and that moves the placement base in the first direction.
