A tool changer configured so that a turret is turned to index a desired tool to change the tool is provided with front and rear covers that cover front and rear surfaces, respectively, of the turret. A projection or a recess, which defines a passage for chips or a cutting fluid, is formed on or in an outer peripheral portion of the rear cover. Thus, the chips produced during machining and the cutting fluid used in the machining can be prevented from getting into the turret through a gap between the front and rear covers.

MACHINE TOOL

A tool holding part holds two boring bars in a manner in which axes of the boring bars are parallel to a spindle axis. A tool change mechanism has a circular arc movement mechanism in which the boring bar moves from a tool holding position to a tool change position by at least a circular arc movement on a plane surface including an axis of the spindle in the tool change position and an axis of the boring bar positioned in the tool holding part.

A sanding machine, with a machine bed, two vertical supports arranged laterally at the machine bed, with a bridge displaceable on the vertical supports in a horizontal, linear Y-axis, with an X-sled displaceable at the bridge in a horizontal, linear X-axis, with a Z-sled displaceable at the X-sled in a vertical, linear Z-axis, with an operating spindle supported at the Z-sled, particularly a sanding spindle, with a machine table and a magazine wheel comprising tool holders for sanding disks, and which is rotational about an axis parallel in reference to the Z-axis, with the operating spindle being able to remove a tool from a tool holder and place it there when this tool holder is rotated into an exchange position, with the tool magazine being arranged underneath the machine table and in the area of the exchange position.

Machine tool

A machine tool includes a spindle device; a shutter which is disposed between a tool magazine disposed over a machining chamber and the machining chamber, and is capable of opening and closing; a tool exchange device; and a tool breakage detecting device to detect whether a tool indexed to a tool detecting position of the tool magazine has breakage or not, and performs a return step of returning a first tool to the tool magazine with use of the tool exchange device; an attachment step of attaching a second tool to the spindle device; and a breakage detecting step of rotatively moving the first tool returned to the tool magazine to the tool detecting position and detecting breakage of the first tool with use of the tool breakage detecting device, after the shutter is closed. This constitution can prevent erroneous detection and improve the operational efficiency of the machine tool.

TURRET FOR TOOL MACHINE
